Starlight Clearbottom stands at the rail, bow in hand, the Long Road far beneath the cliffs and branches.
For a moment, the forest seems at peace.
Then a heavy thud rolls up from the road, slow, rhythmic, wrong.
Another follows, and another, each one closer to the river crossings.
A dark plume of smoke rises from the tree line, curling into the moonlight.

Below, horns begin to sound from the lower walkways, and the first alarm bells ring through the tower.
