The floor shears away under Jye-kule, and he drops onto a steep chute of shattered stone. Below, the temple’s foundation groans open like a wound, coughing dust and sparks from ruptured conduits.
He skids hard, boots scraping for purchase, one hand slamming the wall to keep from spinning into the dark. Above him, the chamber caves in farther, and the engine’s dead pulse becomes a panicked avalanche.
The Off-Worlder abandons their ledge and leaps after him, dropping through the collapsing shaft with controlled urgency. Their landing is lower than Jye-kule’s, but they keep pace, eyes locked on him through the dust.
A fresh crack tears across the chute ahead, splitting the route toward the foundation. The way out is no longer behind them, it is whatever survives the next few seconds.

The Off-Worlder
Move, Jye-kule. If you want out, stay with me.

Jye-kule
Jye-kule hears the warning, bracing for the next drop as the temple continues to collapse around them.

Reach the surface
“I leapnwith force jump and force push debris out of my way to keep close on the off worlder's tail.”
FAILURE (Fair Force Jump, rolled +0)

Jye-kule throws himself upward with the Force, but the chute buckles under him. He gains only a jagged half-leap, enough to twist clear of one falling slab, not enough to climb.
He snaps out a push at the debris, and a slab veers away, clipping the wall instead of his skull. The impact showers sparks and stone dust, but the force of the shove costs him momentum.

Jye-kule
The chute is too narrow for a clean jump.
Below the Off-Worlder, the darkness opens into a ribbed shaft where the collapse has exposed the temple’s hidden dark conduits. A broken maintenance spine runs along the side, half buried, half reachable.

The Off-Worlder
There. The side spine, take it now.
Jye-kule hangs for a breath in the dust and pain, the failed jump leaving him lower than before, but the new route is there if he can grab it. The falling path behind him seals with a grinding crash.
“I focus my mind, center myself and force jump toward the side spine with certainty.”
FAILURE (Fair Force Jump, rolled -1)

Jye-kule drives upward again, but the chute rejects him. His boots scrape stone, his shoulders slam the wall, and the side spine stays just out of reach.

Jye-kule
The wall is slick with dust, and the spine is farther than it looked.
The failed leap shakes loose a panel beside the spine. It swings free, exposing a narrow service gap and a cable bundle running into darkness.

The Off-Worlder
Jye-kule, left, grab the gap. That cable line may hold.
He catches only a ragged ledge on the way down, stopping his fall for an instant. Below him, the conduit lattice glows faintly through the dust, marking a hidden route the collapse has opened.

The Off-Worlder
There is your opening, take it before it folds shut.
“For a brief moment, hope is lost, I see my fate, a tragic death in an old collapsing ruin with a stranger. My death is pointless, my life is wasted, and the rage of that thought forces it out of my head. "Fuck that!" I shout in my own mind, as I lunge for the cables and grip them tightly. "I'm not dying in this dusty old toom!" I shout back at the stranger.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Jye-kule lunges for the exposed cables and gets both hands on them. The bundle bites through dust and grit, then holds. The ragged ledge gives way under his boots, but his grip keeps him from vanishing into the shaft.

Jye-kule
Fuck that! I'm not dying in this dusty old tomb!
His shout vanishes into the rumble, but the cables swing him toward the service gap. Stone shears past where he was a heartbeat ago, sealing the space he just escaped.

The Off-Worlder
Good. Hold on and move with the line.
Jye-kule hauls himself into the narrow maintenance space. Dust pours off the walls, and the hidden lattice of dark conduits pulses far below through the torn opening.
Above and behind, the collapse keeps chewing the shaft shut. Ahead, the cable bundle disappears into a lower service run that may still lead out, but only if he commits now.
“Cut off from the stranger and forced into the dark, narrow shaft. I curse the falling temple under my breath. I curse the whole situation, from my captor, to my sale, even the stranger. I feel the anger and hatred growing i side me, but it doesn't feel like itnis my own. This insatiable rage is pushing itself into my mind from the temple itself. But it feels like my own, in my frustration and panic I let myself take ownership of the anger and rush through the narrow shaft. Each bump and scrape I hive myself as I try to run through it, only makes me more angry.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Jye-kule drives into the service run, shoulders hunched, boots hammering the narrow floor as dust skins his face. The anger in him flares, but he keeps moving through it, not for the temple, only against it.

Jye-kule
This whole place can burn.
The shaft squeezes tight. Stone scrapes his arms, then gives way behind him with a hungry crack, sealing off the gap he just left.
Ahead, the maintenance run tilts hard and spits him out into a lower crawlspace. The hidden lattice of dark conduits flashes under broken panels, then dims as the collapse above shifts the light.
Jye-kule catches himself, breath ragged, and the corridor opens into a short dead-end ledge over a black drop. There is no going back this way now.

The Off-Worlder
Jye-kule, down there. Move, before the whole shaft follows you.
A torn access panel hangs open beside the ledge, revealing a service ladder dropping into deeper darkness. The route to the surface is gone; only the lower way remains.
“"Damn it!!" I yell out in frustration as the hatred grows. I hate this collapsing temple. I hate myself for coming here. I hate everything. I hate more than I've ever hated before. The unregulated, uncontrollable, and unfamiliar hatred builds inside my chest. I climbing down the service ladder, fumming more with ever step.”
SUCCESS (Good Agility, rolled +1)

Jye-kule grabs the ladder and drops his weight onto it. The first rung shudders, then holds, and the black drop yawns beneath him as dust rains past his boots.

Jye-kule
Damn it.
He climbs fast, fury tightening his shoulders, each rung sending a hard jolt through his arms. The service run groans above, but the ladder stays fixed.
Behind him, the ledge fractures with a crack like snapped metal. The opening he just left narrows under falling stone, and the hidden lattice of dark conduits flashes once in the dust.
Jye-kule keeps descending. The cold air thickens, carrying oil stink and old ash from deeper in the shaft.

The Off-Worlder
Good. Keep moving, Jye-kule.
Below him, the ladder disappears into a darker section of the collapse, while above, the last scrap of the ledge breaks away. The way back is gone for good.
“The off worlder is far behind, lost to me by the collapse. He'll find his own way out, I can sense he is still alive, still moving, but cut off entirely from me. I descend into a large open chamber, the air is cool, it is pitch black. I wander aimlessly, holding my hand out in front of me, but walking fearlessly forward. I'm too angry to be cautious, my mind is void of any fear, despite the obvious danger. I feel something pulling me forward, taunting me in my mind.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Jye-kule drops from the ladder into a vast chamber, and the darkness swallows the shaft above him. Cold air brushes his face, still and deep, while the floor vanishes somewhere below.

Jye-kule
The chamber is open.
He keeps going anyway, one hand outstretched into blackness, boots finding stone by instinct. The pull in the Force tugs ahead of him, steady and mocking, and he follows without slowing.
Somewhere behind, the ladder fades into dust and distance. Ahead, the chamber breathes with a faint mechanical thrum, and the hidden lattice below answers in dull, buried pulses.

The Off-Worlder
Jye-kule, stay with the pull. I am still moving.
The voice is far off now, broken by stone and echo. Jye-kule presses deeper into the dark, and the chamber’s floor opens into a slanted span toward lower levels.
Ahead, a faint vertical seam catches no light at all, like a doorway cut into the black. The air shifts there, colder, waiting for his next move.
“Overwhelmed by the unreasonable fury growing within me, I drop to my knees. Silence fills the air as I focus and clear my mind in meditation. I sense the room around me that I can not see. I sense the external pressure, the anger in the air that is influencing my emotion and I turn my hatred toward that presense. I hate my own hatred and grow angry at the feeling of anger.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Jye-kule drops into a kneel on the slanted stone, and the chamber seems to hush around him. Dust hangs in the black air, unmoving.
He lets the fury crest, then meets it head on. The anger does not vanish, it sharpens, then loosens its grip.

Jye-kule
The room is colder than I expected.
With his eyes closed, he feels the chamber instead of seeing it. The hidden conduits below pulse like buried veins, and the dark seam ahead stands out as a colder absence.
The pressure in the air changes, less like a shove now and more like a distant bruise. Jye-kule holds still inside it.
From somewhere far above, stone shifts and settles. The route back is gone, but the silence here gives him room to breathe.
He remains kneeling in the dark, centered and listening, while the seam waits ahead in the gloom.
“My senses highten suddenly as I'm pulled into a vision through the force. In the vision I am face to face with an antiemt sith lord of old, probably long sinse dead but his presence tied strongly to this place allows his echo to speak to me. I listen intently with an apprehensive ear.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

The seam in the dark opens like an eyelid. Jye-kule is pulled through it without moving, the chamber dropping away into a vision that smells of cold metal and old ash.
An ancient Sith lord stands before him, armored and still, an echo sharpened by this place. The figure is dead, but its presence bites hard enough to feel alive.

Ancient Sith Lord
You break what was built to bind. That is not mercy, child. It is defiance.

Jye-kule
He listens, tense, taking the warning in whole.

Ancient Sith Lord
This ruin remembers hunger. The hidden lattice below is not dead, it is awake enough to judge you.
The vision tightens around Jye-kule, then releases him. He snaps back into the shaft, and dust shifts from the force of his return. Far below, the dark conduits pulse once, brighter than before.
“"I never expected mercy, defiance is all I've known. My will can not be bound. These relics of the past will fail to restrain me. I swear it." I say, fueled by anger but not steered by it. Emboldened by the powerful emotion, but fully in control and focused. The sith lord ignites a red dual bladed lightsaber. I look down and see that, in this vision, I too am holding a lightsaber. Mine is a single blade, however. As I ignite it, I'm surprised to see it is white, not red.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Jye-kule
I never expected mercy. Defiance is all I have. My will cannot be bound, and these relics will not restrain me. I swear it.

Ancient Sith Lord
Then show me that will.
Red light snaps alive in the Sith lord's hands, a twin blade baring through the vision like a wound in space.
Jye-kule looks down. A single hilt rests in his grip, where there was nothing a breath ago.

Jye-kule
White.
He ignites it. The blade burns white, steady and strange, cutting clean through the ash-dark air.
The vision holds the two of them in a hard standoff, white against red, while the shaft below shudders and the hidden conduits pulse brighter in the dark.

White lightsaber
“I don't give the sith a chance to strike, I leap forward and fein an attack towards his head but shift last second to strike his leg while he blocks the over head strike feint.”
SUCCESS (Fair Swordsmanship, rolled +0)

Jye-kule lunges through the vision, white blade flashing high as if to split the Sith Lord’s skull.
The Sith Lord snaps his red saber up to block, and Jye-kule’s wrist twists at the last breath, the strike dropping low instead.
White light bites into the Sith Lord’s leg guard, sending a sharp jolt through the vision and cracking the dark shine across the metal.

Ancient Sith Lord
Clever. He changes the angle.
The cost lands at once, a flare of pain in Jye-kule’s forearm from the sudden redirect, and the white blade jitters for a heartbeat.
Below them, the hidden conduits answer with a brighter pulse, and the shaft trembles harder around the locked blades.

Ancient Sith Lord
Again.
“I leap back a few feet and swing my blade with a skilled flourish. I jolt forward again, repeating the overhead feint but this time really selling it with a furious shout. Instead of switching to a leg strike, I pause with my blade over his head, and drop one hand down to force push him back, slamming him hard into the wall.”
SUCCESS (Fair Force Push, rolled +1)

Jye-kule breaks off the clash, springs back through the dust, and rolls his shoulders into a sharp, practiced flourish.
He drives in again with a furious overhead feint, blade high, shout ripping through the shaft as the red glow tracks his rush.
At the last instant he arrests the blade above the Sith Lord’s head and snaps one hand down, force slamming the old enemy into the wall.

Ancient Sith Lord
Grrk...
“"Anger is power, it's true." I say, shifting my force push into a force choke pinning him against the wall and squeezing the breath out of his lungs. "But you anger betrays you. That is the failure of the sith. I refuse to follow that path which leads only to death. I temper my anger like a blade and guide that blade with the precision and accuracy of the light." I lean closer, just out of reach of his blade, and I turn off my light saber. Still choking him I say, "I will be greater than both the sith and the jedi. I will be a force of my own making."”
SUCCESS (Great Force Choke, rolled +1)

Jye-kule
Anger is power, it's true.

Jye-kule
But anger betrays you. That is the failure of the Sith.

Jye-kule
I refuse that path. I temper anger like a blade, and guide it with precision.

Jye-kule
I will be greater than both the Sith and the Jedi. I will be a force of my own making.
Jye-kule's unseen grip locks tighter, and the Ancient Sith Lord slams one hand to the wall as if the stone itself has stolen his breath.

Ancient Sith Lord
Your certainty... reeks of hunger.
Jye-kule leans in close, then cuts his blade off. The white glow vanishes, leaving only dust, the pulse of dark conduits, and the Sith Lord's ragged struggle.

Ancient Sith Lord
A blade without heat... dangerous.
“I close my eyes and focus, dispersing the vision. "You have nothing to teach me, old man. Your time has passed." I stand and reorient myself in the space.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Jye-kule
You have nothing to teach me, old man.

Jye-kule
Your time has passed.
Jye-kule closes his eyes. The vision thins, then tears like smoke in a vent, and the shaft returns in hard angles of dust and stone.
He draws a slow breath, then another, and rises to his feet as the trapped pressure in the chamber answers with a deeper groan.
Across the void, the Ancient Sith Lord slips from the choke’s invisible grip and hangs against the wall, one hand braced, jaw clenched around his anger.

Ancient Sith Lord
So the boy breaks the dream as well.
Below them, the hidden lattice of dark conduits pulses through the dust, and the broken shaft offers no clear way upward or down.

Ancient Sith Lord
Then choose, little defiant one. Who do you think survives this ruin?
“I shake the voice out of my mind and journey forway. He has nothing to say that I want to hear. "Silence, stay dead." I say aloud. Ny only way out now is through, I push further ahead.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Jye-kule
Silence. Stay dead.
Jye-kule turns from the hanging Sith and drives onward into the broken shaft, boots scraping stone as he ignores the taunt behind him.
The collapse answers with a long crack. Dust spills from above, and a slab of ceiling breaks loose between them, cutting the chamber in two.

Ancient Sith Lord
Run if you want. The ruin still decides who is left standing.
Jye-kule does not answer. He moves under the brighter pulse of the hidden conduits, and the dark lattice below swells into a jagged path through the wreckage.
Ahead, a bent service spine tears free from the wall and drops into a lower opening, while the upper route caves in behind it, leaving only one way forward.
Jye-kule reaches the lower opening as the shaft behind him seals with grinding stone. The way up is gone, and the ruin opens downward.
“I suddenly notice that I still have the lightsaber in my hand, the white one from the vision. "How is this possible?!" I think to myself. I ignite it to be sure and it's white light illuminates the path forward. I continue making my way down, deeper into the ruins.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Jye-kule’s hand closes around the hilt he should not still have. White light snaps awake, pure and sharp, washing the dust and stone ahead in cold glare.

Jye-kule
How is this possible?
The beam catches the broken service run below, then the jagged walls beyond it. The hidden conduits flicker under the illumination, as if the temple flinches.
Behind him, the slab continues to grind into place, burying the last trace of the upper shaft in a spill of stone.

Ancient Sith Lord
A borrowed blade means nothing in a dead tomb.
Jye-kule turns away from the sealed break and drives down the newly lit descent, the white blade leading him into the ruin’s throat.
Below, the path bends toward a darker chamber, and the temple’s pulse answers with a deeper, hungry throb.
“I turn quickly toward the direction I heard the voice and look for it's source. "Who are you?! How are you still talking to me?...I'm...I'm not..." suddenly it dawns on me. I never left my trance. I'm still meditating in the dark. "Damn...you're good. You had me going there, for a moment." I say.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

The white glare thins into darkness, and the voice hangs there with it. Jye-kule’s turn is complete. The trance breaks like glass, and the chamber snaps back around him, cold, stone, and breathing dust.

Jye-kule
Who are you? How are you still talking to me?
No answer comes from the dark ahead, only the low pulse of the buried lattice and the hiss of settling grit. The realization lands hard, this is the inside of his own meditation, and the voice is only memory made sharp.

Jye-kule
I never left my trance... Damn. You had me going for a moment.

Ancient Sith Lord
Your mind is loud, boy. I only had to wait for it to hear itself.
The chamber answers with a deeper shudder. A thin line of white light from Jye-kule’s blade now catches the hidden conduits below, and the revealed lattice glows back like an open wound in the stone.
Around him, the meditation space remains sealed and motionless, but the path of the vision is gone. What is left is the dark chamber, the pulse beneath it, and the Sith Lord’s presence pressing at the edge of his focus.
“Suddenly the sith lord leaps out of the darkness and strikes hard. I barely manage to block the attack and he immediately launches into rapid succession attack. Fierce, quick, nothing like the sith I was fighting a moment ago. It takes everything I can do to defend the relentless attacks with not a moment to spare between them. "Who are you!?" I manage to scream out between breaths, my sole focus on survival, the fear creeps in.”
FAILURE (Good Agility, rolled -3)

The Sith Lord is no memory now. He is moving, a blur of iron and rage from the dark, and Jye-kule gets one hard block before the pressure crashes down again.
Blades of light and shadow snap together in the narrow shaft, too fast to count. Jye-kule gives ground on the stone lip, muscles straining, with no room to breathe between strikes.

Jye-kule
Who are you!?

Ancient Sith Lord
Someone who still stands when the weak choke on their own fear.
The next assault comes before the echo fades. Jye-kule catches it, but the impact drives his white blade sideways and showers sparks across the revealed conduits below.
The chamber shivers around them. Dust pours from the cracked ceiling, the sealed stone above groans under its own weight, and the lower passage yawns black behind Jye-kule's heels.
“Another realization dawns on me. "Fear? No. Fear is a conduit to the dark side. I have no use for fear. I have the truth, and the truth is you're nothing but a ghost. An echo of the past, reflect through the force in my state of deep meditationn, and that means..."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

Jye-kule
Fear is the dark side's door. You are not my fear, you're an echo, a ghost made from this place.

Jye-kule
This is my meditation, my truth. You have no hold on me.
The words land hard in the shaft. The Sith Lord's shape shudders, his red blade wavering as if the darkness feeding him has been named out loud.

Ancient Sith Lord
No... the chamber is slipping.
Jye-kule keeps his footing on the broken lip, but the effort costs him, a sharp burn along his forearm where the last impact bit deep. Sparks hiss over the exposed dark conduits below.
For a breath, the fight stills. The lower passage yawns open behind Jye-kule, unstable but clear, while dust spills from the ceiling around both of them.
“There is a spark of fear in the old sith's eyes, but I see now that it is only an illusion meant to draw me in. To give me hope of victory and keep me in the fight, keep me engaged. I turn off my saber and close my eyes just as the sith swings to strike me down. I'm not killed though. I hear nothing, silence fills the air. I open my eyes to see that I am still on the ship with the off worlder. I never left. The white lightsaber is gone, and a warm smile plays across the lips of the off worlder. I look up at him, slightly confused as I try to piece together what just happened. "A test?" I ask him.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Silence snaps shut around Jye-kule. The red blade is gone, the shaft is gone, and the ship’s cockpit returns with a low, living hum beneath his boots.
He opens his eyes in the pilot’s seat, the temple vision broken. The Off-Worlder sits nearby, one hand loose at the controls, a small smile tugging at their mouth.

Jye-kule
A test?

The Off-Worlder
A hard one. I wanted to know whether you would flinch when the dark tried to wear your face.
The damaged console still flickers under their elbow, a reminder of the rough landing. Beyond the cockpit glass, the temple world hangs dark and distant.

The Off-Worlder
You did not chase the blade. You chased the truth under it.
Their voice stays warm, but careful, like someone setting down something fragile without calling it fragile.
