Adventure of Tanor 1

The Apprentice thrusts both glowing hands toward the green rift, trying to knit a ring of light around it. Their magic trembles at the edges, thin as spun glass.

Tanor sees the containment field begin to form, then stutter under the rift’s hungry pulse. Dust rains from the cracked ceiling onto the scattered books below.

The light around the Apprentice’s fingers flickers harder. Their knees bend under the strain, but they keep pushing, jaw locked against the pull from the tear in the air.

The rift swells in a sick green pulse, throwing long shadows across the library shelves. The Apprentice gasps, one hand dropping as their spell thins to threads.

Tanor lunges in a single hard line, boots skidding through dust, and drives his sword straight into the green heart of the tear.

The rift snaps wide around the blade, then buckles. Green light spills over the shelves in a violent sheet, and the Apprentice flinches as the strain shudders through the room.

For one suspended breath, the crackling wound holds the sword like a key in a lock.

The containment ring surges back around the blade, thin but real, gathering the pulse into a tighter, dimmer spiral.

Above them, a fresh fracture races across the ceiling. Stone dust sifts down in a steady white veil, and several loose chunks begin to shift.

Tanor holds the blade dead steady, shoulders locked and feet planted in the dust. The sword does not drift, and the rift takes the pressure without tearing wider.

The green light thins into a narrow, trembling column around the steel. Dust still falls, but the ceiling’s shudder softens into a lower, uneasy groan.

The Apprentice sways on their feet, both hands straining at the air as if pinching the chamber of light shut by force alone.

The rift’s pulse slows, but it answers with one last hard throb, sending a fresh crack racing overhead and a slab of stone beginning to loosen.

Tanor bears down harder, and the blade stays fixed. The spiral tightens around the steel, not breaking free but binding itself around his point of force.

A sharp crack snaps overhead. Dust bursts down as the hanging slab tears loose and smashes against the floor beside them, shuddering the stacks.

The green light thins to a narrow, trembling thread around the sword, then steadies. Tanor’s forearms ache from the strain, and the hilt bites a fresh bruise into his palm.

The room answers with a low, settling groan. The worst of the pulse is gone, but the blade remains the seal, and the Apprentice’s hands shake with the cost of holding it.
