With Lieutenant Autumn dead and the Capital Wasteland invaders defeated, Honorhold forces and Vahlheim survivors lower their weapons. Judge and Vahlheim’s king begin negotiating for peace instead of war.
The Lone Wanderer returns to the guild with Ettel, Ash, Bingus Brown, the silent hunter, the elderly bearded man, the young bearded man, and the bunnygirl. His revolver remains holstered, while the bruise in his forearm aches after the shot that ended Autumn.
Calimakal and Ragna quietly arrange a private room upstairs. The Lone Wanderer collapses almost immediately onto the bed and snores the night away.
Using a stimpak, he heals his injuries from battle and gets some proper rest.
When he awakes, he finds Ettel standing at the door. She seems sad...

Ettel
You're finally awake. Good, there's something we want to show you.
Beyond the door, familiar voices murmur around breakfast. Ettel waits for him to get up.
The Lone Wanderer is instantly healed of all injuries and conditions.
Director's note
Logan found a way to open a portal to the Capital Wasteland, now the Lone Wanderer can go home.
“Get up and join Ettel downstairs.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)

The Lone Wanderer swings his legs from the bed and rises without hesitation. The room is quiet, and the clean strength in his body confirms the stimpak has done its work.

The Lone Wanderer
The pain is gone.
He follows Ettel downstairs, fastening his battered gear as he walks. Warm lamplight and the smell of cooked food meet him at the bottom of the stairs.

Ettel
Speak with Logan. He said he's found something that you're gonna want to see.
Ettel leads him toward the breakfast table, where the young bearded man, the elderly bearded man, and the bunnygirl sit with untouched bowls before them. Their guarded quiet eases when he arrives.

Logan Scarborough
Good morning, friend. I see your injuries are all healed up. Those injectors are really something, huh? Listen, I think I found a way to open a portal to your world.
Calimakal sets a fresh bowl and bread at the open place beside Ettel. The guild’s familiar breakfast murmur surrounds the table, but every face remains solemn.
“Hear Logan out.”

The Lone Wanderer takes the open place at the breakfast table. Ettel remains beside him while Logan gathers several marked pages, his nervous focus returning.

Logan Scarborough
With Leonard's help, I think we can use a waystone to project a portal to your world. It's only a theory though, our only evidence are notes that we recovered from Vahlheim.
Logan spreads a diagram beside the untouched bowls. Violet symbols connect a ruined waystone in Honorhold to a corresponding relay site in the Capital Wasteland.

Logan Scarborough
With the right spells, Leonard and I can use the waystone to open one controlled passage. It should lead back to the wasteland, near the place where your original crossing began.

Ettel
You're finally going to get to go home...
Logan turns the final page toward the Lone Wanderer. The markings are dense, but the conclusion is clear: the route can be opened, and the return is possible.

Leave the guild to prepare for the portal opening
The Lone Wanderer leaves Honorhold adventurer's guild breakfast area behind and arrives at the waystone.
“Go with Ettel and her party to the waystone.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +1)

The waystone rises from a windswept field, its cracked face silvered by morning frost. Ettel, Logan, Leonard, and the bunnygirl stand around it as violet motes drift from seams in the ancient stone.
The Lone Wanderer circles the monument with effortless balance, crossing loose shale and wet grass without disturbing the group or the fading sparks. His quick survey reveals fresh scratches around a recessed symbol.

Logan Scarborough
That symbol was hidden beneath the lichen. It matches the Vahlheim notes, and the stone is responding to your presence.

Ettel
Then this is the place. Logan, prepare the markings. Leonard, check the surrounding stones. Mari, stay where I can see you.
The Lone Wanderer finds a narrow groove beneath the symbol and clears it with his knife. Violet light immediately threads through the waystone, forming a stable outline in the air beyond it.

Leonard XII
Remarkable. The anchor is intact. With Logan's spellwork, this can open a controlled passage to your world.

Ettel
We can begin the process whenever you're ready.

Director's note
Logan and Leonard both combine their magic to create a portal to the Capital Wasteland.

Logan kneels beside the waystone and begins chalking the final symbols into the groove. Leonard raises both hands, drawing violet threads from the surrounding stones into the anchor.

Logan Scarborough
The portal will only stay open for a few minutes. If there's anything else you needed to do before you go, now is the time.
Leonard answers with a strained murmur as the violet outline thickens. Beyond it, the image resolves into a ruined road, broken concrete, and gray wasteland beneath a familiar sky.

Leonard XII
The anchor is listening to the traveler’s world. Remarkable... years of studying magic paid off.
The portal surges wide enough for a person, spilling cold air and the distant scent of dust into the frosted field.

Ettel
We will never forget what you've done for Honorhold... and for us...
The violet passage steadies before the Lone Wanderer, revealing the road home in full. Logan and Leonard release their hands from the stone. Staring in awe at their successful casting.
Director's notewhole tale
Ettel and her party rush to hug The Lone Wanderer, saying goodbye.

Ettel rushes forward and wraps both arms around the Lone Wanderer. Ash, the towering barbarian, Mari, Logan, Leonard, and the silent hunter follow, crowding close in a sudden farewell embrace.

Ettel
You came to us from another world, and you protected ours as if it were your own. I am going to miss you terribly. Goodbye, my friend.

Bingus Brown
You're a great warrior, wastelander. We will be singing songs about you every night at the tavern from now on.
The embraces loosen reluctantly. Logan and Leonard return to the portal to inspect it a little longer. Still impressed by its power.

Logan Scarborough
The medicine you brought from the Capital Wasteland will help a lot of people here. Once I've fully studied how those stimpaks work, I'll be able to replicate them. You have our thanks.
“Give Ettel my lucky 8-ball, as a goodbye gift.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -2)

The Lone Wanderer reaches into his gear for the worn black 8-ball. His fingers fumble a bit as he nervously fidgets beside Ettel.
He places the lucky 8-ball in Ettel’s hands. She closes her fingers around it, looking from the keepsake to him in startled silence.

Ettel
Your lucky 8-ball? You’re giving this to me?

Ettel
Thank you, my friend. I will always remember you when I look at this gift.
Ettel presses the 8-ball against her chest, then carefully tucks it into a secure inner pocket.

Logan Scarborough
Done then? The portal won't stay open for long.

Ettel
Just one final goodbye...
Director's notewhole tale
Ettel leans in to kiss The Lone Wanderer on the cheek.

Ettel leans in and plants a kiss on The Lone Wanderer's cheek. This startles him at first but he soon smiles.

Ettel
I won't forget you, ever.
Ettel then wipes tears from her eyes as she returns to her party, watching the portal and The Lone Wanderer.
The portal is still running, but its steady light begins to flicker as the Lone Wanderer stands in front of it, looking back and Ettel and his friends one last time.

Logan Scarborough
Goodbye wanderer. May the path you take always be in the light.
The Lone Wanderer leaves the waystone behind and arrives at Capital Wasteland.
“Enter the portal and return to the Capital Wasteland.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -1)

The Lone Wanderer steps onto cracked asphalt beneath the familiar gray sky. Wind pushes radioactive dust across the ruined road, carrying the dry smell of concrete, rust, and distant smoke.
Behind him, the violet portal collapses without a sound, leaving only fading sparks above the broken waystone. The Capital Wasteland stretches ahead, battered and immediately recognizable.

The Lone Wanderer
Home... heh.
His rifle settles against his shoulder as he surveys his surroundings. A wrecked pre-war utility truck leans beside the road, its cargo doors hanging open and its tires half buried.
Fresh boot prints lead from the truck toward a collapsed service tunnel. Beside them, a weak emergency beacon blinks beneath a sheet of dust, its battered speaker repeating a broken distress tone.
Beyond the tunnel, a thin column of black smoke rises over the ruins. The wasteland was welcoming him with danger once again. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
