Team Seven remains seated as instructed. Logan sits proudly beside Naruto, his Leaf headband bright against his forehead, while Sakura and Sasuke remain across the aisle.

Naruto
Kakashi-sensei is late already! We should give him a surprise when he walks in.
Naruto quietly drags a spare piece of chalk toward the entrance and balances it above the half-closed door, grinning at his handiwork.

Sakura
Naruto, stop that! He is our instructor, and we should show him respect from the very beginning.

Sasuke
A childish prank will reveal more about Naruto than it will about the instructor.
Iruka watches from his desk, arms folded, his expression growing stern as the harmless scheme takes shape. The classroom door remains still.

Naruto
It is only a little chalk. Logan, are you helping me, or are you going to tell Sakura?
Director's note
It would be kind of funny to do a prank, but would it be wise to actually do it to our teacher?
“Naruto, I dont know about this”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +3)

Logan
Naruto, I do not know about this. Is pranking our new instructor really wise?
Logan glances toward Iruka, then smiles uncertainly. His quiet warning reaches the others, while the chalk remains balanced above the half-closed door.

Naruto
Maybe not wise, but it will be funny! We can take it down if Kakashi-sensei looks angry.

Sakura
At least Logan has sense. Naruto, remove it before our instructor arrives.
Naruto hesitates, then carefully retrieves the chalk. Iruka’s stern expression eases, and he gives Logan a brief approving nod from across the classroom.

Iruka
Good judgment, Logan. A shinobi must think beyond the moment, especially when meeting a new instructor.
The chalk returns to the supply ledge, leaving the doorway clear. Outside, measured footsteps approach, and Team Seven turns toward the entrance.

Earn Kakashi’s trust
Director's notewhole tale
Kakashi finally shows up through the door as he looks at each student. As he decides how each student actually functions within the team but noting the extra member, Logan, joining them. He is a little surprised as he asks Iruka why there's four and not three?

The classroom door slides open at last. Kakashi Hatake, a tall young adult man with silver hair, a dark mask over his lower face, and a green flak vest, steps inside with one visible eye calmly surveying the room.

Kakashi Hatake
Good morning. I am Kakashi Hatake, your assigned instructor. Which students are Team Seven?
His gaze moves from Sakura to Sasuke, then Naruto, before pausing on Logan. The extra headband catches his attention, and his visible eye narrows with mild surprise.

Kakashi Hatake
Iruka, I was told to expect three graduates. Why are there four?

Iruka
Logan completed the graduation requirement with an unusually successful second attempt. The assignment was adjusted, and he is officially part of your squad.
Kakashi Hatake studies Logan for another quiet moment, measuring the child’s posture and proud Leaf headband. Naruto sits forward eagerly, while Sakura and Sasuke wait for his judgment.

Kakashi Hatake
An unusual formation, then. Very well. Team Seven, gather your things and follow me. We will discuss your strengths, weaknesses, and tomorrow’s first exercise.
Director's note
Kakashi leads the team to the rooftop as he discusses each student's goals and ambitions. His goal is to help the team act as a team and not individual squadmates. The team needs to learn that on their own.

Team Seven gathers their belongings and files from the classroom. Kakashi waits in the corridor, one hand resting casually near his vest as the students follow.
They climb to the academy rooftop beneath a clear sky. Wind moves across the stone parapet while the four graduates arrange themselves before their new instructor.

Kakashi Hatake
Let us begin with introductions. Tell me your names, what you like, what you dislike, and your goals for the future.

Naruto
I’m Naruto Uzumaki! I like ramen, especially when Iruka-sensei pays. I dislike waiting for it, and my goal is to become Hokage!

Sakura
I’m Sakura Haruno. There are things I like and dislike, but my goal is not something I intend to announce to everyone.

Sasuke
Sasuke Uchiha. I dislike many things. My goal is to restore my clan and eliminate a certain man.
Kakashi’s visible eye shifts among them, pausing briefly on Logan before returning to the group. His relaxed posture hides careful judgment of their different strengths.

Kakashi Hatake
Tomorrow, we begin a team exercise. Your individual abilities will matter less than whether you can act together. Learn that quickly.
“I want to become the strongest so everyone can realize who I am”
SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled -2)

Logan
My name is Logan. I want to become the strongest shinobi in the world, so everyone will recognize who I am.
The declaration carries across the rooftop on the wind. Logan’s voice cracks at the final words, leaving his throat sore, but every member of Team Seven has heard him clearly.

Naruto
That is a huge goal! Then we will have to train harder than everyone else!

Sakura
Strongest in the world? You certainly are not lacking confidence, Logan.

Sasuke
Strength is not announced. It is proven.

Kakashi Hatake
A lofty ambition. Wanting recognition can drive a shinobi forward, but it can also blind him to the people beside him.
Kakashi Hatake’s visible eye narrows with renewed interest. He turns toward the parapet, silver hair lifting in the breeze, and gestures for the four students to stand together.
“I stand near Kakashi”

Logan steps across the rooftop and stands near Kakashi, joining the loose line before the stone parapet. The clear wind tugs at his clothes and bright headband.
Kakashi glances down at him, then surveys the four students together. Naruto shifts closer with open enthusiasm, while Sakura and Sasuke hold their places.

Kakashi Hatake
Good. Stand together for now. A team begins by recognizing who is beside it.

Naruto
Right! Team Seven is going to be the strongest team in the village!
Sakura folds her arms, though her attention remains on Kakashi. Sasuke watches the group in silence, measuring the unusual formation without stepping away.

Kakashi Hatake
Four students instead of three will require discipline from all of you. Tomorrow, we will see whether you can move as one.
The wind passes over the rooftop again. Logan remains beside Kakashi and the others, ready for the next instruction beneath the open sky.
Director's note
Kakashi then lets the team go as we can get ready for the test for tomorrow morning. I decide to then head to the ramen shop for dinner

Kakashi Hatake
That is enough for today. Rest, prepare yourselves, and return here tomorrow morning. The exercise will test more than individual skill.
Kakashi Hatake turns toward the stairwell and descends from the rooftop. Team Seven follows briefly before separating below, each student carrying the weight of tomorrow’s unknown challenge.

Naruto
I am going to train all night! Well, maybe after dinner. Logan, the ramen shop is the best place to prepare for anything!
Naruto hurries toward the village street, waving as he goes. Sakura and Sasuke depart in different directions, leaving Logan beneath the fading gold of evening.
Logan makes his way to the ramen shop, the village settling into dusk around him. Warm lamplight spills across the street, carrying the savory scent of broth and noodles.
Inside, an elderly man with a broad build and a white headscarf tends the steaming counter. He looks up as Logan approaches, his weathered face brightening in welcome.

Teuchi
Welcome, young shinobi. Congratulations on your graduation. Sit down and tell me what you would like.
