The air here smells of ozone and petrichor, heavy and thick enough to taste. Above, the sky is a swirling mosaic of violet clouds and floating jagged islands of basalt. Beneath Kingnasir’s boots, the ground is composed of translucent, amber-hued glass that hums with a faint, rhythmic vibration.

Kingnasir
I have left the snow behind, but this place feels far more dangerous than any mountain pass. Where is Brann? Where did that stranger go?
A figure emerges from the amber mist ahead. It is a tall, slender woman clad in segmented armor that mirrors the shifting colors of the sky. She carries a long, unlit polearm and watches Kingnasir with eyes that glow like dying embers.
Watcher
You carry the scent of a dying world, traveler. This sanctuary is not for those who bring the chaos of the rifts with them.

Kingnasir
I did not choose this path. I am merely looking for a way to reach the capital.
Watcher
His draconic blood is agitated. He is a catalyst for the very thing I am sworn to keep out.
+ Scene Quest Added
Find a way to the capital
“So like who are you”
SUCCESS (Poor Persuasion, rolled +3)

Kingnasir
You speak as if you know exactly what I am, yet you do not even offer a name. Who are you to block the path of a traveler?
Watcher
I am the sentinel of the threshold. Names are fleeting, much like the life you currently cling to. However, your bluntness is... refreshing.

Kingnasir
She seems less hostile now. Perhaps she values directness over protocol. If I can get her to lower that polearm, I might actually learn something useful about this dimension.
Watcher
My name is Vala. If you truly seek the capital, you must prove that your path is not merely a trail of destruction. Why do you insist on entering a city that has long since turned its back on the likes of you?

Kingnasir
If I tell her about Sammy, will she understand, or will she see me as just another vengeful ghost? I need to choose my words carefully before she decides I am a threat again.
“I cant tell you that information I just need to get there”
FAILURE (Poor Persuasion, rolled +0)

Kingnasir
I cannot tell you that. It is my business, and mine alone. I simply need to get to the capital.
Watcher
You speak of secrets as if you have the luxury of withholding them. Your desperation is written in the tension of your shoulders, boy.

Kingnasir
My bluntness failed. Her expression is hardening again, and the tip of her polearm is drifting back toward my throat. I am losing control of this conversation.
Watcher
Silence is a confession of its own. If you will not trust me with the truth, I cannot trust you with the passage.

Kingnasir
The fractures beneath my feet are glowing brighter. Is this an effect of her magic, or is the ground reacting to my own rising frustration? I have to make a move before she decides I am an enemy to be disposed of here and now.
“Okay I will tell you explains”
FAILURE (Poor Persuasion, rolled -1)

Kingnasir
I… I am being hunted. By someone who wants to reshape the world in his image, and he has marked me for death.
Watcher
A vague story of a nameless hunter. How convenient for a dragon-blood to weave a tragedy when his own nature is the true disaster.

Kingnasir
My attempt to sound sincere just sounded like a rehearsed lie. Vala is not buying a single word of it.
Watcher
Your eyes dart like a cornered rat. You offer me shadows when I demand light. Perhaps your blood is meant to fuel the fractures, not cross them.
The violet light beneath Vala’s feet flares into a blinding, jagged pulse. She lunges, her polearm sweeping in a wide, lethal arc aimed not at Kingnasir, but at the very ground beneath him. The glass shatters upward into a storm of glowing, razor-sharp shards, pinning Kingnasir in a cage of airborne debris.

Kingnasir
I have made a terrible mistake. She is not letting me pass. She is trying to bury me.
+ Scene Quest Added
Escape the glass cage
“Okay I was a good kid living with my parents but then it came chaos appeared a guy whos name is sammy Killed my parents a he brought destruction he even cursed me to make me become weak but u will level up he wants to reshape the world And I swear I will kill him whatever it takes cries”
FAILURE (Poor Persuasion, rolled -1)

Kingnasir
I... I just wanted to explain... about Sammy! He destroyed everything, my home, my family, he cursed me! I am trying to survive, please!
Watcher
Your tears are as hollow as your excuses. You speak of vengeance, but you reek of the same corruption that rots the glass beneath us.

Kingnasir
My voice is shaking, and my pleas sound like the desperate whines of a coward. She isn't listening. She is looking at me as if I am the plague itself.
Watcher
If you truly wish to reach the capital, then see how your precious blood holds up against the weight of this realm.
Vala twists her polearm, driving the tip into the already fractured floor. The violet energy erupts with a violent, concussive boom. Kingnasir is caught in the shockwave, his feet swept from beneath him as a swarm of amber glass shards erupts from the crater, surrounding him in a spiraling, jagged vortex.

Kingnasir
I have to move, or the glass will carve me to ribbons!
+ Scene Quest Added
Survive the glass vortex
“Super magic Dmm the knife of death dies”
SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled -1)

Kingnasir plants his feet inside the spinning shards and forces his will through the panic.

Kingnasir
A blade. I need a blade now.
Heat gathers in his hand, then hardens into a narrow draconic edge of light, sharp enough to part the whirl.
He swings once, and the nearest glass ribbons split away, falling in glittering pieces around him.

Vala
So. You are not helpless after all.
The blade holds, but the effort tears a sting through his arm, and a thin line of blood beads along his palm.

Vala
Take your chance, Kingnasir. Show me whether that power protects or consumes.
“SHUT UP AND TAKE THIS super knife magic mega slashes”
SUCCESS (Poor Melee Combat, rolled +1)

Kingnasir drives the light blade forward through the spinning cage, and the nearest wall of shards bursts apart.
The slash cuts a clean path to Vala, scattering glittering splinters across her boots and the broken amber glass.

Vala
There. That is the shape of your power.
The vortex shudders, and a hot sting opens across Kingnasir's forearm as a shard catches him on the follow-through.
Blood flicks from his hand into the spinning light, and the blade flares brighter for a heartbeat.

Vala
Again, if you want me to believe you.
The shattered ring slackens around him, but the air still hisses with falling glass, waiting for his next move.
