The Burnt Egg hisses under harsh work lights. Ozone and scorched metal hang in the air like a warning.

Naira Versta Nai steps in over a floor dusted with ash, her tools clinking at her side. The Ash Bringer is stripped open on the lift.

Broken Leg is already inside the chassis bay, hunched over a cooling manifold. His brawler mech stands silent in the corner, bulk shadowed against the wall.

He taps the warped brace with two scarred fingers, then drags his hand back before the heat can bite. A warning light pulses red across the exposed frame.

At the shop entrance, the outer security panel blinks once, then twice, like something outside is asking to be let in.

Naira Versta Nai glances to the panel, and the blink resolves into a face she knows, Marcus Black eye, standing outside in the rain-dark with one hand raised near the seal.

The outer lock still holds, but his presence turns the shop quiet in a different way. Broken Leg stiffens beside the open chassis, eyes snapping from the manifold to the door.

Naira keeps her tools low and steps back to the work bay, the live warning on the manifold washing her gloves in red.

Broken Leg drags the manifold brace into place with both hands, forcing the warped housing to seat. The ash-streaked frame shudders once, then steadies.

A sharp tone cuts through the bay, the cooling line sealing under pressure. Then a second alarm chirps, brief and ugly, from the Ash Bringer's rear spine.
