The Father’s Name Revealed
Hunter 1
Hunter 1

Beyond the warning carved into the stone, the broad-shouldered hunter pauses alone. His ashwood bow hangs lowered, while his frightened gaze keeps returning to the dark water shining on your claws.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

The others are gone. I stayed because you deserve to know why we came.

He swallows and shifts his weight toward the cave mouth, though he does not retreat. Far ahead, the other hunters’ footsteps fade into the coastal wind.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

A coastal broker paid us. Not for any dragon, exactly. He asked for a water dragon, and asked whether its abandoned sea-born father still lived.

Oceghiaccio

Oceghiaccio

The water on my claws still carries the cave’s cold.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

He knew the father’s name. Aacluo. I heard it clearly, though I do not know what the broker wants with him, or with you.

The hunter finally lifts his eyes from your claws to your face. His bow remains lowered, but one hand tightens around its grip, waiting for your answer.

✓ Quest Accepted

Learn what the coastal broker wants with Aacluo

“Thinking "aacluo? That- that- him, what does this primate wants?" *looking at the hunter, making absolutely sure he notices me"”

Oceghiaccio

Oceghiaccio

Aacluo? That... that is him. What does this primate want?

You lift your head and fix the hunter with an unwavering stare. Your blue scales catch the dim light, and the white ones along your neck gleam like cold foam.

You hold his gaze deliberately, making certain he understands that the cave is watched, defended, and no longer a place where secrets can pass unnoticed.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

You know that name. Gods help me, you know it.

The hunter’s fingers loosen around the ashwood bow, though his shoulders remain tense. He reads your silence as an answer and glances uneasily toward the empty passage.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

I cannot tell you what the broker intends. I can tell you this: he feared Aacluo, and he feared what finding him might awaken.

He keeps his eyes on yours, visibly measuring the distance to the cave mouth. The distant wind carries the others away, leaving only his confession beneath the stone.

“*grabbing a stone, drawing "aacluo" in it, and smashing the stone on the ground, and then I write "what i would love to happen"*”

Hunter 1

You seize a loose stone and drag one claw across its surface, carving Aacluo’s name in jagged letters. Beneath it, you add: WHAT I WOULD LOVE TO HAPPEN.

Your grip tightens, and you smash the marked stone against the cave floor. It breaks with a sharp crack, but the impact jars your foreleg and scrapes scales from one claw.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

That is not a prayer, is it? You mean to find him.

Fragments skitter across the wet stone. The largest piece still bears Aacluo’s name, split through the middle beneath the hunter’s wavering gaze.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

If the broker is hunting him, your message may reach the wrong ears. Mine will not.

He bends, retrieves the marked fragment, and holds it carefully by its edges. Beyond him, daylight waits at the cave mouth, while the broken inscription remains under your claws.

“*grabbing his chest, and then pointing at the broken rock, and then pointing outside the cave, and then shaking my head in fake confusion making it absurdly obvious he know im hinting something”

SUCCESS (Great Persuasion, rolled +2)

Hunter 1

You clutch your chest, point at the broken rock, then jab a claw toward the cave mouth. With an exaggerated shake of your head, you perform confusion so absurdly that the message cannot be mistaken.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

You want me to take it outside. To carry your warning where the broker can see it.

The hunter’s wary expression shifts into understanding. He raises the marked fragment between you, then turns it toward the daylight spilling across the cave floor.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

A sign for him, then. Aacluo’s name, and the promise beneath it. I will show him exactly what you carved.

He slips the fragment inside his green cloak, securing it beneath the fold rather than hiding it from view. His bow remains lowered as he backs toward the entrance.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

I will carry your meaning beyond this cave. No broker gets to pretend he never heard it.

✓ Quest Accepted

Ensure the coastal broker receives the warning

“*pointing outside the cave*”

The Father’s Name Revealed

You point firmly toward the cave mouth, holding the gesture until the hunter understands that his departure is expected, not merely permitted.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

Yes. Outside. I understand. The cave remains yours, and I will not bring the broker here.

The hunter nods once and backs through the outer chamber. His hand briefly presses the fragment beneath his green cloak, confirming that your warning travels with him.

Hunter 1

Hunter 1

I will tell the broker the dragon guards this place. If he wants Aacluo, he can seek him without using your home as bait.

He crosses into daylight and turns toward the coastal path. For a moment, his scarred brow remains visible beyond the threshold, then the hunter disappears after the others.

Silence settles over the cave again. Your carved warning remains on the stone, and the guarded darkness closes around the entrance.

✓ Quest Accepted

Keep the cave’s secret from the coastal broker

“*looking at him exiting the cave to ensure he says nothing suspicious*”

FAILURE (Mediocre Perception, rolled +0)

The Father’s Name Revealed

You keep your gaze fixed on the hunter with the ashwood bow as he follows the coastal path beyond the cave mouth. Daylight shrinks him against the pale shore.

You strain to catch his words, but the coastal wind tears his voice apart. The other hunters merge with him near the rocks, their separate shapes becoming indistinct.

Oceghiaccio

Oceghiaccio

The wind carries footsteps, but not the conversation.

You watch for any gesture that might betray your cave, yet distance and glare flatten the hunter’s movements into uncertain silhouettes. You cannot tell whether he speaks plainly or embellishes his tale.

The hunter pauses at the coastal path and turns once toward the entrance. His hand touches the fragment beneath his green cloak, but the wind swallows whatever passes between him and the others.

He disappears beyond the rocks before you can read his purpose. The cave is quiet again, but his words now travel beyond your sight, beyond your control.

“*sitting, waiting*”

The Father’s Name Revealed

You settle onto the damp stone just inside the cave mouth, placing your body between the guarded darkness and the open coast. The cold rock steadies beneath your weight.

Wind moves across the entrance, carrying salt and the faint rhythm of distant footsteps. Nothing approaches. The carved warning remains stark beneath the dim light.

Oceghiaccio

Oceghiaccio

The cave is quiet, and the entrance remains watched.

You wait without shifting, blue scales dark against the stone while white scales along your neck catch the occasional gleam from outside. Your claws rest ready on the floor.

Time passes in the measured drip of water and the slow breathing of the cave. Daylight thins at the mouth, but no shadow crosses the threshold.

You continue sitting guard, allowing the silence to settle while the coastal path remains beyond your sight. The cave stays yours, undisturbed.
