The giant boar paws through the mud beyond the splintered cedar. Its flank carries a fresh scrape, dark against the bristled hide, while its tusks turn toward Ash.

Ash
The path behind it is narrow, but open.
Roots knot the ravine wall on either side of that passage. Wet earth slides beneath Ash’s feet, and the cedar’s broken limbs offer little shelter from another charge.
Giant Boar snorts, spraying mud from its broad muzzle. Its small eyes remain fixed on Ash as one forehoof stamps a deep, trembling hollow.
For a moment, the beast holds still, gathering itself. The forest seems to withdraw around the sound of its breathing, leaving only roots, mud, and the narrowing gap.
Then the giant boar lowers its head. Its shoulders bunch beneath the bristles, and the ground shivers as it prepares to charge again.

“I chop the boar's head in half with my axe”
Critical hit for 2 damage — Giant Boar struck back but missed

Ash steps into the charge instead of yielding ground. Her axe rises through the cramped space between roots as the giant boar reaches her.
The blade crashes down with all her legendary strength. The strike ends the beast’s attack and leaves it critically hurt, its great body collapsing into the mud.
Giant Boar’s head is split by the blow, and its furious momentum vanishes. Blood darkens the churned earth as the monster bleeds out, no longer capable of fighting.
Its tusks pass harmlessly wide of Ash, scraping only wet soil. She remains standing, braced among the roots, while the ravine shakes with the last impact.

Ash
The boar is down. My arm is still bleeding, but I can move.
Silence returns by degrees. Steam lifts from Giant Boar’s dark hide, and pine branches settle overhead as the narrow path behind the carcass lies open.
