Adventure of Techno 1

The corridor shudders, and the bent wall panel peels aside. Behind it sits a spotless elevator car, chrome-bright and silent, untouched by the lockdown.

Techno and The Dealer step inside. The doors seal with a soft hiss, and the car drops immediately, too smooth for a building this crippled. Red emergency light gives way to white maintenance glow.

The display stays dark, but the floor count ticks down in faint blue pulses. Someone has been riding this route often, and keeping it clean.

The elevator slows and opens onto a narrow sub-level dock, all concrete, steel, and cold vent air. Ahead, a mag-rail platform waits in the half-dark, humming like it is still alive.

Techno steps onto the platform and finds the mag-rail interface is not just accessible, but already slaved to a local override frequency. The system hums with a ready state, its internal diagnostic logs showing a pre-programmed escape route that bypasses the entire sector lockdown.

Techno climbs onto the mag-rail platform and cracks open the panel beneath the blue-lit interface. A thin spark snaps his cut hand, but the rail wakes, accepts the hotwire, and starts loading an outbound route while secondary locks click shut behind him.

The dock answers with a sharp mechanical thud as security shutters seal. The path out is live now, but the station sheds a burst of status pings, loud enough to warn anyone watching the sector grid.

Jax steps onto the platform after Techno, shoulders tight, eyes on the rail doors instead of the dark beyond them.

The platform shivers under their weight, blue light washing over concrete and steel as the car seals itself to launch. Somewhere deeper in the dock, another lock slams home.
