Wolfpride enters the deep woods beneath ancient boughs, hunger tightening his stride. Damp earth carries the scent of prey, sharp enough to draw him onward between ferns and black-rooted trees.
Small animal prints mark the trail at first, clustered around a muddy hollow. Then they lengthen, deepen, and change, becoming impressions shaped like clawed feet.

Wolfpride
The tracks change ahead.
The altered trail winds beneath thorn branches toward a ring of ancient standing stones. Their surfaces are furred with moss, yet pale symbols glimmer beneath it like embers under ash.
Birdsong dies. Leaves stop trembling. Even the forest's distant creaks fade until Wolfpride's movement seems unbearably loud against the unnatural stillness.
At the edge of the stone ring, the clawed impressions end without turning back. One final mark faces the trees behind him, as though whatever made it has already noticed the hunt.
The standing stones wait in silence, their shadows falling in directions the hidden sun cannot explain. The trail offers no certainty about what lies beyond.

A bell tolls beneath the earth. The standing stones answer together, their pale symbols flaring as roots writhe through the moss and split the silent ring.
Beyond the stones, the forest folds inward. Trunks bend without breaking, revealing a narrow path filled with silver mist where no path stood before.

Wolfpride
The air carries no scent of soil, leaf, or living thing.
A shape moves within the mist, first towering, then small, its outline changing with every step. Antlers briefly crown it before vanishing into a hooded silhouette.
The final stone cracks from crown to base. A darkness like starless water spills across the ground, stopping just short of Wolfpride's paws.
From somewhere beyond the opened path, a voice speaks without words, pressing one clear meaning into the stillness: return.
“Keep hunting”
FAILURE (Fair Perception, rolled -1)

Wolfpride lowers his scarred shoulders and follows the shifting outline into the silver mist, testing each step for a trace of scent. The air remains utterly empty.
He hunts by sight instead. The hooded shape flickers between the trees, always just beyond reach, while the path bends beneath his paws like a living thing.
Wolfpride surges forward, claws striking stone where the figure stood. The mist collapses around him, swallowing the trail and sealing the standing stones behind.
For one breath, the woods vanish. Then he stands upon a narrow bridge of black roots suspended over a depth filled with silent, upside-down stars.
The scentless air carries a distant bell, now above him. Ahead, three rootways divide: one glistens with frost, one smolders with dim red light, and one disappears into darkness.
Behind Wolfpride, the bridge slowly unravels toward the sealed forest. The hunt has crossed beyond ordinary tracks, and the return path will not remain open.
