Adventure of Devin Halbolt 1

The Black Sheep’s support skimmer slides up through drifting smoke, grapples unfolding beside Devin’s GM III. The captured cockpit module hangs between wrecked gantries and dark water, heavy enough to tug at his machine’s balance.

The support skimmer’s clamps lock onto the module frame. Across the seawall, the blinking Neo-Zeon signal still pulses from the wreckage, stubborn as a heartbeat.

Devin eases the load toward the skimmer. Then a fresh radar spike slices through the harbor haze, low and fast, coming in from the broken docks.

The main fight snaps back into focus, the harbor is not secure yet, and Manhattan’s hold still depends on Devin cutting down this next push before it reaches the Black Sheep.

Devin swings the GM III’s shield out in front of the skimmer, turning the machine broadside to the harbor lane. The first tracer burst cracks against the barrier, sparks skittering off the edge instead of the crane deck.

His head vulcans chatter in short, disciplined lines. The incoming contact ducks behind a broken piling, then jerks back as the rounds chew the waterline and splash the approach into chaos.

The support skimmer’s grapples finish their pull, cinching the captured module tight against its cradle. On the far side of the seawall, the silent signal blinks once more, then is swallowed by smoke and debris.

A second salvo hammers into the wrecked dock face, but Devin’s fire keeps the attacker pinned at range. The harbor rushes around the stalled contact, while the prize hangs secure on the skimmer.

The skimmer ducks lower behind the seawall as Devin’s vulcans keep barking. A fresh burst of tracer fire misses the cockpit cradle and rips through the smoke where the contact was hiding.

Silver Fox’s craft breaks from cover on the left, angling hard toward the dock ruins. The hostile contact finally shifts, forced to choose between Devin’s fire and the new flank.

Devin’s last burst goes wide enough to scorch his shield rim, and the recoil bites through his arm through the control grips. The lane stays open, but his ammo counter drops into the red.

The enemy contact snaps out from cover, pinned between the two angles of fire, while smoke and shattered concrete wash across the harbor mouth. The captured module stays locked in place, and the next move hangs on Devin’s timing.

Devin keeps the lane stitched shut, vulcan rounds chewing sparks out of the smoke and forcing the hostile contact to stay exposed. Silver Fox swings in on the opening and lands the finish with a clean strike that knocks the enemy suit hard into the dock rubble.

The contact goes still, its silhouette sagging into the ruins instead of pushing through them. Devin’s last burst cuts off on a hot click, and his ammo readout flashes near empty.

A narrow arc of tracer fire dies with the threat, leaving only smoke drifting across the harbor mouth. The skimmer holds its flank position, and the captured cockpit module stays locked on its cradle below.

For one brief beat, the harbor goes quieter, but the silence makes the trapped Neo-Zeon pilot inside the module feel louder somehow. The sealed cockpit signal on Devin’s readouts remains dark.
