At the mage college, a summoning circle collapses inward with a sound like a mountain inhaling. Runes shear apart, leaving a widening tear of starless violet between the stone pillars.
The caster stands at the circle's edge, a young adult woman with long silver hair, luminous blue eyes, and glowing tattoos crawling across her athletic frame. Psionic light snaps around her raised hands.

Eradan
No. That was not the summons. Hold, you impossible door!
The tear answers by blooming wider. Wind pours through the chamber, lifting scrolls and extinguishing blue mageflames as a vast, dark silhouette is drawn across the threshold.

Eradan
I am Eradan, archmage of absolutely none of this. Stranger, if you can hear me, do not step forward!
The warning arrives too late for the widening breach to matter. Space folds around Tsumiki, her violet halo spilling across the college floor as the rift releases her into the unfamiliar world.

Eradan
Please be a traveler. Please do not be the thing that answered.
Behind Tsumiki, the tear shudders but remains open, its edges grinding against reality. Eradan lowers one trembling hand, readying a shield without attacking.

Tsumiki
What is this world?
Tsumiki turns toward the starless tear. Violet geometry gathers around her hands, and the breach folds inward beneath her command until the last jagged edge seals with a silent flash. Eradan’s shield lowers.

Eradan
This is Fantasia, a magical kingdom in a world of many realms. You stand within its mage college, though I suspect you did not arrive by any ordinary road.
The sealed stone pillars settle into stillness. Tsumiki’s attempt has given her the plain shape of this place: Fantasia is not empty space, but a living world governed by magic, kingdoms, and roads between distant realms.

Eradan
You have your answer. I am sorry it took me a moment to give it; I was making certain that door could never reopen.

Tsumiki
The world is called Fantasia, and the tear is sealed.
The knowledge is certain, but the college’s maps and histories remain beyond Tsumiki’s grasp. Eradan watches her carefully, no longer braced for an immediate catastrophe, yet plainly unsure what traveler now stands before her.
