The chamber floor splits beneath the occupied molds. Stone folds downward, revealing a narrow stair spiraling into an older undercroft where stale air rises like a held breath.
The transformed villagers turn their heads together toward the darkness. They remain awake as the hours crawl past, standing guard before a sealed iron door scarred by fresh scratches from within.

The Possessed Captive
They have been listening all night. Something below keeps asking to be let out.
The captive descends several steps, then stops beside the first landing. The villagers do not follow him. Their blank faces remain fixed on the sealed door.

The Pale Presence

The Possessed Captive
One of them is not waiting with the others.
