Rain taps the shutters of the Elarion tavern where Dakkea resides. At the common-room door, a broad-shouldered middle-aged woman in a dark green guild coat enters, silver braided through her black hair and a bronze seal at her throat.

the Guildmaster
Dakkae. I would not interrupt your morning unless the matter were urgent.
She crosses between hushed patrons and sets a leather portfolio on the nearest table. Several frightened witnesses linger outside beneath the awning, watched by two guild clerks.

the Guildmaster
Strange artworks are appearing throughout the Whispering Forest. Charcoal beasts, violet towers, impossible bridges. Every one matches a drawing you created.

the Guildmaster
The witnesses insist the images move after sunset. Guild scrutiny is already turning toward you, and fear is spreading faster than we can contain it.
She opens the portfolio, revealing copied sketches marked with forest locations. One page bears a precise rendering of a place Dakkea has never seen outside his own imagination.

the Guildmaster
Only you can determine how this is happening. Come to the Whispering Forest, identify the source, and tell me whether these creations are yours. I await your answer.

“I study the forest sketches for clues about where to begin.”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled +2)

Dakkea draws the portfolio closer and studies each copied sketch, comparing tree lines, shadows, and the violet towers’ placement against the forest map.

The drawings form a route, not scattered appearances.
Repeated charcoal roots mark the northern trails, while three impossible bridges converge around a blank stretch labeled only with a faded witness symbol.

the Guildmaster
You recognize the pattern? I hoped your own hand might reveal what these frightened witnesses could not.
Dakkea overlays the pages. The imagined tower aligns with an old ranger path beside a crescent-shaped pond, deep within the Whispering Forest.

the Guildmaster
Then begin there. The northern gate is the safest entrance, and my clerks can provide a marked trail before you depart.
Beneath the tower’s foundation, a tiny violet mark repeats the shape of a crown with its center deliberately erased. The starting place is clear.
“I follow the marked trail to the tower”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Survival, rolled +1)

By midday, Dakkea passes beneath the northern gate and follows the guild’s marked trail into the Whispering Forest. Rainwater pearls on enormous leaves, and violet symbols guide his steps between ancient roots.

Dakkea
The charcoal roots match the copied drawings exactly.
The path bends around a crescent-shaped pond whose still surface reflects trees that do not stand along its shore. Beyond it, the impossible bridges converge beneath a towering silhouette.
The imagined tower rises from a ring of black soil, its pale stone walls threaded with charcoal lines. Violet windows glow without flame, and the erased crown mark crowns its doorway.
As Dakkea reaches the foundation, the surrounding artworks settle into silence. A charcoal beast lowers its head among the ferns, no longer moving, while loose sketches stir in the wind.
The tower stands before him, solid and complete. Its door bears no handle, only a shallow outline shaped like a magical pencil, waiting beneath the violet crown.
