The woods crack with a guttural roar. Through the trees, a huge brown ogre heaves into view, rounded ears stark against the leaves, while a knot of fifteen soldiers crowds him from all sides.

He catches one by the breastplate, slams two together, and sends the line scattering. The clearing itself stays calm, but the violence presses toward it like a storm edge.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

That one is no beast, Ankura. He is fighting, not hunting.

The soldiers keep coming anyway, driven more by fear and pride than sense. Their pressure has turned a troubled meeting into a wound in the forest.

Ankura Anura

Ankura Anura

The rot reaches here through fear and bad rule.

A fallen trooper crawls back toward the trees as the ogre recoils, breathing hard, more cornered than enraged. For the first time, Ankura sees the shape of the conflict clearly, a strong creature being blamed for a mess others keep feeding.

If Ankura intervenes, he can pull this clash away from brute force and toward the neglect beneath it.

✓ Quest Accepted

De-escalate the clash in the forest clearing

With forrest call, I rally nearby birds and summon birds to assault the troops into fleeing

Ankura lifts the forest’s hush like a net and casts it outward. Birds answer from the canopy, first one, then a burst of wings, then a dark scatter diving toward the soldiers.

They strike eyes, helms, and exposed hands. Spears jerk off line. The ring of soldiers breaks as shouts turn to panic and men duck and stumble for the trees.

The Soldiers

The Soldiers

Get back, get back! It is cursed!

The ogre freezes at the sudden shift, then lowers his fists a fraction as the nearest troopers lose courage and give ground.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

That turns them, Ankura. Keep them frightened, and they run.

The birds wheel hard once more, and a few soldiers flee into the brush, but the spell bites back at Ankura too, a sharp drain behind the eyes from spending so much will at once.

Above the scrolls, moths burst into the pale light as the clearing holds its breath, now quiet enough for every eye to turn on what the soldiers truly came to do.

Quest Complete

De-escalate the clash in the forest clearing

I greet the ogre and tell him of our quest, to change the tide of good and evil in subtle at first ways

Ankura steps out of the birds' chaos and lets his voice carry across the clearing, calm and clear. The ogre turns fully toward him, wide shoulders easing by a breath.

Ankura Anura

Ankura Anura

I greet you. This struggle can be turned, slowly, toward good.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Toward good? Then speak plain, little devil, before these fools crawl back with steel.

Scarred Rat stays low beside the scrolls while moths tremble around the pale light, listening with sharp stillness.

Ankura Anura

Ankura Anura

My quest is to unite the rodent tribes and frogmen, so the land may be repaired rather than left to rot in fear.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Rodents and frogmen, not hunters and soldiers. So this is a fight over who gets to mend what.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

He means it. I have seen him turn a cursed place into a guarded one.

The ogre lowers his chin, studying Ankura with wary respect as the soldiers' retreat fades deeper into the trees. The clearing grows quieter, waiting for his answer.

You fought bravely, i say

You fought bravely, I say.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Bravely enough to live, then. That's a rare compliment in these woods.

The ogre gives a rough laugh that softens at the edges. His wide hands lower from a fighting guard to an open, waiting posture.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

He hears you, too. Not many listen past the horns.

Moths drift tighter around the scrolls, pale wings fluttering over the old lines as the clearing holds its breath.

The Ogre

The Ogre

If you mean to mend land and kin alike, then say where a brute like me fits.

I could use a hand, our rodent friend here can scout for us, climb around traps and holes and ceilings raft while me and you hand the grunt work

SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +1)

Ankura Anura

Ankura Anura

I could use a hand. Our rodent friend here can scout ahead, climb traps, holes, and ceilings, while you and I take the heavy work.

The Ogre

The Ogre

A hand, and a head for the tight places. Hm. That I understand.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

I fit the cracks. I fit the dark. I can run ahead and mark the safe way.

The ogre scratches his jaw, then nods once, slow and serious. Scarred Rat straightens, eager but disciplined, as if he has been waiting to be given a true role.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Then I haul, I clear, I break what must be broken. You speak like someone who sees all hands as useful.

The moths keep circling the scrolls, pale and patient over the old lines, while the clearing stays calm around the new shape of the agreement.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

Say the word, and I scout. He lifts. You guide.

Let us make way for frogmen tribes and a fallen fortress to capture as our own and raise rodentment/frogment untited and further, gully dwarves, gnomes, halfling and anyother race treated like underdogs

Let us make way for frogmen tribes and a fallen fortress, and raise rodent and frogkind together, with the underdogs beside them.

The clearing answers with stillness, then the old scrolls stir under the moths as if they have been heard. The ogre’s attention fixes on the fortress name, and Scarred Rat goes very still, already measuring roads and walls in his head.

The Ogre

The Ogre

A fallen fortress gives cover, stone, and height. If it stands empty, it can be made useful again.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

I can take runners to the burrows and marsh paths. If the frogmen will speak, I will bring their answer back.

A warmth runs through the agreement like a struck chord. The clearing feels less like a hiding place and more like a meeting ground.

By the time the moths settle in a brighter cluster above the scrolls, the ogre is already pointing out routes with one broad finger, and Scarred Rat is marking them in the dirt.

If you can rally others to our hold we can muster many. Then we can build a city underground for untied races

If you can rally others to our hold, we can muster many. Then we can build an underground city for untied races.

The ogre straightens from the dirt map, his broad hands hovering over the routes like he is already measuring tunnels. Scarred Rat lifts his head from the markings, ears angled sharp with attention.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Under the ground, there is shelter from fear and room for labor. A city there could hold more than one people, if its bones are laid right.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

A hold, then a network. Burrows, cisterns, rootways, safe exits. If we shape it well, no tribe has to vanish into another to belong.

The moths wheel tighter above the scrolls, their pale cloud dipping over the dirt as if blessing the sketch. The ogre taps one route, then another, while Scarred Rat draws a second ring around the first.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

I know runners who remember old tunnels. Give me names, and I will start calling them in.

The Ogre

The Ogre

And I will bring hands, stone, and timber. If this place is to be built, it begins with work, not waiting.

We must find a suttable place to begin

We need a suitable place to begin.

Ankura studies the dirt rings, then points out a bend in the old route marks where the ground stays firm and dry. The lines converge there, where roots, runoff, and footpaths can meet without crossing the softest soil.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

That junction is sound. Easy to reach, easy to guard, and close enough for runners from both sides.

The Ogre

The Ogre

And strong enough for weight. Stone can come in there first, then timbers, then the deeper work.

Scarred Rat traces the spot with a claw, then marks a small outer loop beside it. The ogre nods once, already seeing pathways where there had only been a clearing.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

I will send word to the rodent tribes. If the frogmen meet us at this point, the first shelter can rise without crowding any one den.

The moth cluster tightens above the scrolls as if drawn to the chosen mark. The clearing feels still, but now it has a center.

Lets begin

SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled +0)

Ankura lowers his hand over the marked junction, and the clearing answers at once. Scarred Rat darts off with the first messages, while the ogre turns to the nearest fallen stone and hauls it into position without waiting for orders.

The Ogre

The Ogre

Then we begin here. I will put my back into it.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

And I will pull the others in before the hour is out.

The route mark is no longer just a plan, it becomes a worksite. Fresh hoof-scratches, claw-lines, and dragged stones cut into the dirt around the junction as if the land itself is taking the first breath of a settlement.

Scarred Rat

Scarred Rat

Runners can follow this mark. The tribes will see it is real.

The moths tighten above the scrolls, circling the chosen point like a pale seal. In the distance, a few unseen frogs answer with low, steady croaks, as if the message is already moving toward them.

The first labor lands cleanly, but the shared work leaves a hard question hanging in the air, who among the tribes will come to help first.
