Emerald Jungle presses close around the smoking palisade. Goblins spill through the breach with grain sacks, while frightened farmers flee between green-shadowed cottages and the burning outer storehouse.
Carmin stands in the defensive line, his mechanical arm shining with gathered sunlight. Beside him, a broad-shouldered young woman guard with cropped black hair and a scarred cheek, her umber skin above a rust-red quilted coat grips a spear, while a lean young man guard in a bronze helm, his weathered brown cloak over a dark quilted coat and narrow jaw visible beneath the rim watches the breach.
Carmin
Please hold the line! We can protect the farmers and still drive them away. We just need to stay together.
A goblin drops a stolen sack to thrust a torch into the storehouse eaves. Fire climbs the dry timber, and smoke rolls low across the packed earth.
Sela Vey
Carmin, the storehouse first! If that blaze reaches the grain, this territory starves.
Orren
The farmers are scattering toward the jungle. Goblins are circling them from the east!
The defensive line tightens as goblins shriek beyond the breach, clutching crude blades and sacks. Behind them, the farmers stumble for cover while sparks leap toward the thatch.

Drive the goblins away
“"You two, secure the storehouse and put out that fire!" I barked. "And you, ginger, let's see what that magic can do. We're going to hold off the assailants," I lifted my sword and shield in preparation.”
SUCCESS (Fair Oratory, rolled +2)
Maryam
You two, secure the storehouse and put out that fire! And you, ginger, let's see what that magic can do. We're holding off the assailants.
The scar-cheeked guard and the bronze-helmed guard break toward the storehouse. One seizes a water barrel while the other drives back goblins crowding the smoking wall.
Carmin
Yes. I can do that. Please stay close, and forgive me if the structure is a little rough.
Carmin plants his boots and raises his mechanical arm. Sunlight gathers along its articulated plates, then hardens into a broad amber wall across the breach.
Sela Vey
The flames are contained! Keep those raiders away from us!
Orren
They cannot reach the farmers now. Press them back from the wall!
Maryam lifts sword and shield before the glowing barrier. Goblins recoil from the hardlight, while the farmers gain the jungle path and the storehouse fire gutters beneath thrown water.
