The Beast Awakens and the Relic Calls

Tray’s obsidian-dark armor drinks the moonlight. His humming blade snaps up, and a shove of force tears Sable from the wall and into the open courtyard.

She lands hard where the pale light cuts across her, and her skin begins to ripple, fur pressing through like a storm under cloth.

Cero sees Tray turn away from them both, already stepping toward the faint blue flicker buried under the rubble.

The light below the stones pulses again, weak but steady, like something answering Tray’s approach.

Sable claws at the ground, half-caught between woman and beast, her breathing sharp with panic as the change takes hold.

Tray does not look back. He reaches for the broken stones, claiming the relic as if the ruin already belongs to him.

I try to talk to sable aware I can't stop her transformation now

SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled -1)

The Beast Awakens and the Relic Calls
Cero

Cero

Sable, stay with me. Hear my voice, not the fear.

Cero lowers his center and lets the wind settle around his boots, steadying himself beside her instead of lunging for Tray.

Sable

Sable

Cero... I can feel it pulling.

The change keeps moving through Sable, but her eyes find him. The panic in her face loosens into something thinner, something listening.

Cero

Cero

Then listen to me. You're still here.

Sable

Sable

I hate this part. The thinking slips first.

Her breathing evens by a fraction. Somewhere under the rubble, the blue light pulses once, bright and cold, while Tray turns deeper toward the stones.

Sable

Sable

Don't let me vanish into it... not while you can still reach me.

The Beast Awakens and the Relic Calls

Cero shifts closer to Sable, planting himself between her trembling body and the open ruin. The moonlight catches on Tray’s armor as he turns from the rubble, and the blue glow beneath the stones answers him like a heartbeat.

Tray

Tray

There it is. The gate beneath the ruin remembers me.

Sable

Sable

Cero, it hurts. He is making it worse.

The stones give a low, grinding shiver. Dust trickles from the broken arch above as Tray’s hand settles deeper into the rubble, and the light below it flares brighter, as if something ancient is waking to his touch.

Tray

Tray

Stand aside. I did not come for her.

Tray

Tray

I came for what will drag this world forward, whether you understand it or not.

Sable

Sable

Then look at me, Tray. I am still here.

Her voice steadies on the last word. The change in her does not stop, but it slows, as if Cero’s presence gives her something to cling to while the relic’s light pulses under the ruin.

Make sure sable is ok as she transforms fully into a wolf I try to stop Tray

SUCCESS (Superb Willpower, rolled -3)

The Beast Awakens and the Relic Calls

Cero braces and plants himself harder in front of Sable. The force of her change hits him like a shove, but he holds his ground and keeps Tray from getting a clear path to her.

Cero

Cero

Stay with me. Don’t let him past.

Sable’s shape surges and then settles into something lower and wilder, breath steaming through bared teeth. She is no longer a woman caught mid-change, but a wolf pinned between pain and instinct.

Sable

Sable

Cero... I’m here.

Tray’s hand slips from the glowing rubble as the stones shudder under him. He checks his balance, and the blue light below the ruin flares once, bright enough to wash his armor in cold color.

Tray

Tray

Then you choose her over the relic. Fine.

Cero’s shoulder catches a jagged stone as he holds the line, drawing a thin sting of pain. Behind him, Sable’s newly finished wolf-body stays behind his guard, and in front of him Tray turns toward the depths with the glow still pulsing under the rubble.
