The passage widens into a cavern of broken axles, rusted ribs of metal, and stone dust. Cold moonlight leaks through fissures high above, striping the wreckage. A solitary figure sits amid the ruin, still as a tomb statue.
Dolan Dash steps into the chamber, and the stranger lifts his head. The face that meets him is wrong in the way a dream is wrong, familiar to the bone and yet impossible to place.

Dolan Dash
I know that face.
The hooded guardian halts behind him, tense and watchful. The Mechanized Robot lingers near the threshold, core light dim but steady, as if afraid to interrupt whatever this is.

The Stranger
You came at last. I have waited through the dark for this exact moment, just as the mountain said you would.

The Stranger
Do not stare so hard, Dolan Dash. You are looking at a memory that learned how to breathe.
Dust drifts between them. The chamber feels held between two breaths, one path behind, one waiting in the stranger’s silence.

Learn who the stranger is
“I ask the stranger why he has no metal limbs like the rest of the townfolk.”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +2)

Dolan Dash lets the question hang in the moonlit dust, plain and direct.

The Stranger
Because I was never made for the mountain. I was made from it.
He turns one hand upward, and the pale light catches flesh where metal should be, then the old scars that bind him to the ruin.

The Stranger
The townfolk carry steel to endure what the calamity took. I carry memory instead.
The Hooded Figure goes still at the words, as if hearing an old warning spoken aloud at last.

The Stranger
Look at me, Dolan Dash. You are not seeing a stranger. You are seeing what the mountain remembers when it speaks your name.
A faint pressure stirs in the chamber, and the cold sigil near the sealed door remains dark. The tunnel behind them gives one distant, uneasy echo.
“I ask the stranger what this all means as my head starts to feel faint and black out.”
FAILURE (Good Willpower, rolled -2)

Dolan Dash
What does that mean, then...?
The words scrape out of Dolan as the chamber tilts sideways. Moonlight blurs across broken stone, and the numb bite in his fingertips flares back awake.
The Stranger’s gaze does not leave him. He lifts two fingers to his own chest, then toward the sealed door, as if tracing a line only memory can see.

The Stranger
It means I am the echo left behind when the mountain forgot a man and kept his name.

The Stranger
I was present when this place was cut and sealed. I saw the first oath laid into the stone.
Dolan sways, but the stranger’s next words land clean through the haze, one bright shard of truth in the dim.

The Stranger
If you falter, look to the cold sigil. It answers to blood, not breath.
Behind them, the hooded figure draws a slow breath, and the tunnel gives one soft, uneasy echo, as if listening.
