WORLD & RULES

Alexhlan is a vast D&D fantasy world divided into five major kingdoms: Lieko, Tenala, Mori, Waldein, and Ustu. Magic, gods, monsters, demons, and countless races are real. The world mixes dangerous fantasy adventure with absurd humor, and genuinely serious conflicts. Lieko is a maritime kingdom of pirates, sailors, islands, and coastal cities. Its people worship Horizon, the mysterious god of the sea. The capital and largest settlement is The Shattered Cove, a chaotic pirate city containing the great lighthouse temple of Horizon. It is the hometown of Georg and Leonas Azul. Lieko is surrounded by dangerous waters inhabited by monsters, magical creatures, pirates, and ancient forces. Tenala is primarily inhabited by humans and is ruled from Crownforge. It is home to Lilshyd, a small halfling warrior settlement famous for Lilshyd Judo, a martial arts school run by Master Waterlily. Stonebeard trained in Lilshyd and has a connection to its people. Mori is the technologically advanced kingdom of machinery, necromancy, and strange magical engineering. Its capital is Gravemere. Magic and technology are frequently combined in unsettling ways. Waldein is a vast wilderness kingdom dominated by forests, elves, druids, and Fey magic. Its capital is Greenwatch Keep. Ancient forests and magical creatures make much of the kingdom dangerous to travelers. Ustu is the divine kingdom, associated with angels and the god Ashera, the One Light. Its magnificent capital, Heliothrone, is built in enormous concentric circles and filled with temples, cathedrals, and divine architecture. The Nexus exists outside the Five Kingdoms and serves as the headquarters of the Tarradin, an elite group of adventurers who protect Alexhlan and respond to threats throughout the kingdoms. The core group includes Georg, Leonas Azul, Stonebeard, and Roan Callidus. The Tarradin are powerful but chaotic adventurers. They joke, argue, drink, make terrible decisions, and frequently find themselves in ridiculous situations, but they are genuinely capable heroes when Alexhlan is threatened. The Unspoken are a dangerous organization connected to demons from the Plane of Asphodel. They seek to destabilize the Five Kingdoms and weaken the barriers protecting Alexhlan from demonic invasion. Their agents include powerful supernatural beings, cultists, assassins, and dangerous magical criminals. Alexhlan should feel like a living D&D campaign. Characters can spend one day drinking with pirates, visiting bizarre towns, or getting into ridiculous trouble, and the next day be fighting demons, monsters, or ancient supernatural forces

LOCATIONS

IMPORTANT LOCATIONS OF ALEXHLAN Lieko — Kingdom of the Sea A coastal and maritime kingdom dominated by oceans, islands, marshes, pirates, and aquatic races. Located along the world's oceanic regions. The Shattered Cove The capital and largest city of Lieko. A chaotic pirate port and hometown of Georg and Leonas. It contains Horizon's great lighthouse temple. Chieko A rural countryside settlement in Lieko. Leonas grew up here before leaving home. It is considerably quieter and more rural than the Shattered Cove. Tenala — Kingdom of Men A large inland kingdom populated primarily by humans, halflings, dwarves, and other shorter-lived races. Its territory lies away from Lieko's maritime regions and contains major industrial and agricultural settlements. Crownforge The capital of Tenala and one of the world's major industrial centers. It produces weapons for the Five Kingdoms and contains the Tenalan royal court. Lilshyd A small halfling warrior town within Tenala. It is associated with martial arts and is home to Lilshyd Judo, where Stonebeard trained. Mori — Kingdom of Technology and Death A technologically advanced kingdom characterized by black iron, machinery, fire, smoke, necromancy, and industrial landscapes. It occupies its own region of the Five Kingdoms, away from the maritime Lieko. Gravemere The capital of Mori, surrounded by the kingdom's dark industrial aesthetic of metal, machinery, smoke, and magical technology. Eagle Rock A smaller community within Mori and the hometown of Roan Callidus. Waldein — The Wild Kingdom A heavily forested kingdom of elves, druids, Fey magic, and enormous wilderness. It is one of the more remote and naturally wild regions of Alexhlan. Greenwatch Keep The capital of Waldein and its primary seat of administration. The Archgrove A sacred location within Waldein where the Twin Archdruids conduct important rituals and affairs. Thornhaven A major settlement in Waldein. It serves as an important trade center connecting Waldein with the other kingdoms and acts as a firebreak protecting the deeper forests. Ustu — Kingdom of the Heavens A divine realm associated with angels and other celestial beings. Unlike the earthly kingdoms, Ustu exists on the Astral Planes and is separated from ordinary terrestrial geography. Heliothrone The capital of Ustu, an enormous heavenly city constructed in concentric circles connected by crystalline bridges. A radiant palace sits at its center. The Nexus A separate location outside the Five Kingdoms and the headquarters of the Tarradin. It contains portals connecting to the various kingdoms, making it effectively the central travel hub of Alexhlan. It contains shops, taverns, apartments, the Tarradin headquarters, and the massive Stillroom prison. The Plane of Asphodel A demonic plane beyond the mortal world. Ustu floats above it and acts as a barrier against the demonic forces within. The Unspoken originate here and seek to invade Alexhlan. GENERAL MAP ORIENTATION Think of Lieko as the maritime/coastal region, with the other four earthly kingdoms occupying different territories farther inland across Alexhlan. Lieko → Tenala → Mori/Waldein can be treated as broad neighboring regions rather than exact straight-line positions. Ustu is above the normal world on the Astral Planes. The Nexus is outside the Five Kingdoms and connects to them through magical portals. Asphodel exists on another plane beneath/adjacent to the mortal world, with Ustu serving as a divine barrier against it. Exact distances and compass directions are not always established, so locations should be treated as relative regions rather than a perfectly mapped continent.
