Yosh steps from the sanctum into raw wind and pale fog. The tower’s rune-light fades behind him, and the broken road opens ahead, a scar of cracked stone and split earth leading into the gray distance.
Ancient masonry juts from the ground like shattered teeth. The sword in Yosh’s hand gives off a cold pulse, each beat tugging his gaze toward the road’s farthest wound.

The Oracle
Walk carefully, wanderer. The seal weakens where the land remembers pain.
The Oracle follows to the threshold, her robe lifting in the wind. She does not cross fully into the broken road, but her attention stays fixed on Yosh and the blade.

The Oracle
Mercy may yet preserve what force cannot. Trust what the sword points to, and not only what it reveals.
Ahead, a dark cleft splits the road where fog curls low and heavy. Yosh moves toward it, the compass-light in the blade steady as the desolate path swallows the sound of the tower behind him.
✓ Quest Accepted
Get past the unnatural obstruction
“I step cautiously toward the dark cleft, letting the blade guide my path.”
SUCCESS (Great Stealth, rolled +0)

Yosh glides into the cleft’s shadow, his steps measured and near-soundless. The sword’s cold pulse steadies, then angles his attention to a seam in the broken road rather than the gap itself.
A slab of stone has sunk crookedly across the path, half-hidden by fog and toppled masonry. Beneath its tilted edge, the ground drops into a narrow passage, dark and steep, while the open road beyond lies exposed to the wind.
The Oracle’s warning seems to hang in the air behind him, and the tower’s rune-light flickers once, faintly, as if answering the blade.
The shortcut is right here, but it demands a tight descent through black stone. The detour is visible too, a longer line of broken road skirting the cleft in full view of the fog.
Yosh keeps still for a breath, the sword held low as it points him toward the hidden way.
A thin hiss of wind threads up from below the slab, carrying the scent of damp earth and old ruin.
The choice now sits plainly before him, dangerous below or exposed ahead.
“I take the hidden passage below the slab”
SUCCESS (Great Stealth, rolled +1)

Yosh lowers himself to the slab’s shadow and slips under the tilted stone without a sound. The hidden passage takes him at once, tight black rock closing around his cloak and blade.
The floor drops steeply. He plants a careful hand against the wall and glides down the narrow slope, keeping his weight light as dust stirs only where his boots finally touch.
Above him, the opening shrinks to a gray wedge of fog and tower-light. The sword’s cold pulse stays steady, then points deeper into the passage.

The Oracle
Steady... the path below remembers older things than the road above.
Her voice reaches him faintly from the threshold, carried down the stone throat behind him.
Ahead, the passage bends toward a seam of dim green light, and the air grows damp with the smell of old water and buried ruin.
“I follow the sword deeper into the passage”
SUCCESS (Legendary Magic, rolled +0)

Yosh lets the sword’s pull lead him on. The green glow ahead sharpens, and the passage widens just enough for his shoulders to turn with it.
The stone underfoot changes, rough wall giving way to worked blocks slick with seeped moisture. Old dust falls from a seam above, disturbed by his passing.
The glow resolves into a narrow breach in the rock, not a lantern or spell, but a buried shine trapped behind fractured masonry.
From somewhere beyond the breach, the sword gives a firmer pulse, as if it recognizes the shape of the darkness on the other side.

The Oracle
There. That is where the old path begins to answer.
Her words drift faintly after him, and the tower’s distant rune-light seems to tremble in sympathy.
Yosh reaches the obstruction at last, where broken stone bars the passage and a seam of green light leaks through its cracks.
“I press the sword against the sealed breach”
SUCCESS (Legendary Magic, rolled +0)
Yosh sets the blade flat against the seam and presses. The green glow answers at once, sliding along the fuller like water finding a channel.
The broken stones shiver. Dust sifts down in a thin curtain as the buried masonry loosens with a low, stubborn grind.
A narrow line opens where there was only cracked rock before, and cold light spills through into the passage.
Beyond the gap, darkness folds back to reveal a worked corridor, its old floor flagstones intact under a skin of age.

The Oracle
The path yields. Now choose whether you trust what waits in the old way.
The tower’s faraway rune-light flickers once, as if in answer to the breach, then steadies.
