Adventure of Krennios, brother's of hell

The maintenance bridge retracts beneath Krennios, its red guide lights vanishing into the shaft. Above the service housing, two white humanoid sentry robots unfold from ceiling recesses, clawed hands and feet locking into the walls.

They race along the chamber's upper edges with insectile speed, white armor flashing between coils and gantries. Their claws bite metal, then release as both machines leap across the open cylinder.

The descending sentry, a tall, broad-shouldered humanoid machine with a smooth black visor and four-fingered claws, drops toward the exposed service housing, limbs folding and snapping open in midair. Its claws angle toward the controls beside the red isolation lever.

The second robot, a slimmer humanoid machine with a narrow black visor and jointed talons, circles overhead as the unstable cable lashes sparks across the dais. Its next leap will drive the arcing line, both machines, and the isolation lever into one converging hazard.

Krennios pivots toward the descending sentry and fires Excul at point-blank range. The red-black rifle cracks through the chamber, its shot striking the machine squarely in the chest.

The sentry's white armor erupts in sparks as the blast tears through its central systems. Its claws release the housing, and the machine drops hard onto the grated dais, motionless.

The circling sentry snaps its visor toward Krennios, abandoning its converging leap. Below it, the fallen machine lies still beside the exposed service housing.

The surviving robot grips the upper gantry instead of striking immediately, talons scraping sparks from the metal. The red isolation lever remains exposed beside Krennios.

Krennios turns Excul toward the gantry, tracking the surviving sentry as it clings above the exposed housing. The rifle's red core flares.

He fires. The shot crosses the chamber in a brutal red streak and strikes the robot through its narrow black visor and upper chassis.

White armor bursts into sparks. The sentry's talons tear free from the gantry, and its body drops onto the grated dais beside its destroyed counterpart.

The surviving machine lands hard and goes still, its visor dark. The unstable cable continues lashing sparks across the housing, but the red isolation lever remains intact and within reach.

For the moment, both sentries are down. The chamber's control core keeps beating overhead, feeding its signal into the damaged cable and the foundation below.

Krennios steps over the motionless sentries and leans toward the exposed service housing. The arcing cable throws harsh light across dust-coated controls and warning symbols.

His attention separates the panel's decoy indicators from its real controls. A recessed black switch sits beneath the lever, marked with the same pulse pattern as the floating core.

Krennios braces one hand against the housing and pulls the red isolation lever fully down. The exposed conductors flare once, then their light collapses into darkness.

The control core overhead loses its rhythm. Speakers fall silent, coils wind down, and the red signal vanishes from the cable descending into the foundation.

A final tremor passes through the chamber and fades. The lower realms are no longer being aligned, while the darkened panel displays a single new status: BROADCAST TERMINATED.
