Adventure of Kaiju D Phoenix 1

Oru howls under a white sky. Wind knifes across the ice shelf as Kaiju D Phoenix steps toward a sleek shuttle, half-buried in a snowdrift, its hull flashing emergency red.

The cargo bay hatch hangs open and twisted. Inside, a human engineer in a frost-stiff suit braces both boots on the frame, yanking at something glowing with bare, shaking hands.

A crackle ripples through the blizzard. Snow whips sideways in a sudden spiral around the shuttle, then slams back down in a hard, cold sheet.

Kaiju reaches the cargo hold as the engineer slips, one glove losing its grip on a metallic artifact no bigger than a helmet. Light bleeds from its seams, turning the snow beneath it blue.

Kaiju D Phoenix lunges through the hatch, boots skidding on frozen metal, and clamps both hands around the artifact before it can drop.

The glow flares hard in his grip, then steadies. Snow hiss-whips through the open bay, but the object stays put, pinned against his chest.

The engineer stumbles back from the edge of the hatch, one shoulder hitting the bulkhead as the wind punches into the compartment.

Emergency lights strobe across the cramped cargo hold, and blue spill-light from the artifact paints Kaiju’s gloves and the engineer’s frost-crusted visor.

Kaiju plants his boots wider and lowers his center of gravity. The artifact’s pulse stills against his chest, held level despite the wind shoving at the open hatch.

The engineer darts in close, thread by thread feeding a restraint strap around the glowing casing. The blue flare washes over his shaking hands, but the device no longer jerks free.

Outside, the blizzard howls past the hatch, yet the cargo hold stops trembling with each pulse. The storm is still there, but its spikes lose their bite.

The final strap bites tight across the artifact’s shell. The engineer lets out one ragged breath, and the pulsing light dips from a flare to a hard, controlled glow.
