Morning bells toll over Everdawn’s temple gate. Beyond the carved cedar arch, the caravan stands loaded with canvas-covered wagons, anxious merchants, and stamping draft horses.

Evethal arrives prepared to leave home as a caravan guard, healing supplies secured and ancient purpose carried quietly beneath his traveling cloak.

Keep your eyes open beyond the boundary stones. The wardens have found signs of a powerful evil along the western road.

A young adult elf man in a mud-dark scout’s coat stumbles from the departure road. His copper hair is loose, one hand pressed to his side, and his face is gray with exhaustion.

The road is not safe. Something is moving beneath the old trees.

He reaches the wagons, then collapses beside a wheel. Merchants recoil, horses jerk against their harness, and the temple bells seem suddenly too distant.

Director's note

Evethal places a gentle hand to the wound. By casting a spell under his breath, a flash of healing magic pulses out from his palm, healing the injured scout.

“"Please, have no fear in your heart. I am here."”

Please, have no fear in your heart. I am here.

Evethal kneels beside the fallen scout and places a gentle hand over the wounded side. Beneath his cloak, the vine-like lines of his tattoo begin to glow.

His breathing is shallow, but steady.

He murmurs an ancient healing phrase under his breath. Warm light flashes from his palm, flowing through the scout in a single quiet pulse.

The pain... it is gone.

Color returns to the scout’s face. The horses settle, and the merchants draw nearer as the road warden, a broad-shouldered adult man with weathered brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and a dark green boundary cloak over leather armor, lowers his hand from his sword.

Well done, healer. You have steadied him, and the caravan besides.
