Adventure of Elena 1

The school corridor shudders beneath overlapping gunfire. Ella Bawer, a towering, muscular Black woman in Marine armor, braces beside two riflemen, a young man, a lean young man with brown skin, a narrow face, and short dark hair beneath his faded olive helmet and uniform and a stocky middle-aged man, a broad-shouldered middle-aged man with weathered tan skin, a square jaw, and graying hair beneath his dusty olive helmet and uniform, both dust-streaked and helmeted.

Beyond them, survivors pound against a jammed fire door while the undead crowd presses through the smoke. Emergency lights flicker over overturned desks and scattered ammunition.

Ella points toward the trapped survivors, then sweeps two fingers toward the stairwell. Its railing has buckled, and terrified voices echo from below as the route toward the mountain safe zone gives way.

The front ranks slam into the barricade. Ella plants her boots, raises her rifle, and locks eyes with Elena as the corridor narrows to seconds.

Elena drops into a braced stance, four arms locking the corridor’s broken geometry into a firing platform. Their rifle rises through the smoke.

Controlled bursts hammer into the foremost undead, driving the crowd back from the fire door. Muzzle flashes strobe across helmets, desks, and frightened faces.

The pressure against the barricade eases under Elena’s covering fire. Ella lunges to the jammed door with the two riflemen and wrenches at its release bar.

Another burst drops the nearest attackers out of the survivors’ path, leaving a clear pocket around the door. Below, the stairwell voices rise as people begin moving.

Elena pivots from the open fire door, placing their massive frame between the retreating survivors and the smoke-filled corridor. Four arms steady the rifle and secure the approach.

Ella Bawer drives the survivors toward the stairwell, guiding them past overturned desks and flickering emergency lights. The young rifleman follows, firing short bursts over the group.

The undead surge through the smoke behind them. Elena holds the corridor with disciplined fire, forcing the advancing bodies back while the last survivors descend safely.
