A narrow stairwell appears beyond the plaster, descending and ascending at once. The records’ ink crawls into an arrow aimed upward, toward a door breathing faintly in the dark.
With every step forward, another copied room forms behind them: a bedroom, a kitchen, then the doctor’s basement. Their doors remain open, quietly offering retreat.

The crystal pebbles will mark the way back to the doctor’s door.
Nimity crouches at the stair’s first landing and places a dull crystal beside the threshold. They continue upward, leaving another at each turn toward the doctor’s basement door.
One shard breaks beneath their fingers, opening a shallow cut across their palm. The crystals chime softly against the plaster, and every open room behind them falls silent.
