The Storm at the Caravanserai

Mason arrives at a desert caravanserai plagued by an unnatural, localized rainstorm. He encounters the Mayor, Bram, who is terrified of a woman named Elspeth. Elspeth is manipulating ley lines near the central well, creating a dangerous cyclone that threatens the structural integrity of the trade post. The ground beneath the caravanserai well cracks open, revealing a glowing, runic vault lid and releasing a swarm of mechanical construct-beetles. Elspeth accuses Bram of failing to pay a debt, while Bram urges Mason to seal the vault to prevent the constructs from reporting back to the Dark Elves. Mason leaps toward the rising vault lid as the floor continues to buckle around him.
