The loaded cart sits low in the crater, swaddled in trade crates and bundled filters. Above it, the sky fractures with engine-wash and screaming iron as forty yellow-horned raiders sweep into view, mounted in jagged assault carts.

The Miner

The Miner

Raiders! Forty of them, yellow-horned and armed, straight over the camp!

The Stone-Lieutenant steps in front of the supplies, blade out, while Varkas pulls back beside the cargo with a startled snarl. The first meteor glow smears the clouds red behind the circling carts.

The Stone-Lieutenant

The Stone-Lieutenant

Hold the line. They want the ore, not our graves. Ankura, if we lose this load, the mine starves.

The Lead Raider

The Lead Raider

Yield the cargo. Keep your hides, and maybe your camp remains standing.

The raiders tighten their ring, blocking the ridge route and cutting the camp off from retreat. Below them, the miners brace beside the cart, waiting for Ankura Anura's answer as the next impact light blooms overhead.

Director's note

I cast harsh weight to the leaders cart to halt it levitating and come crashing down

Ankura Anura’s strike of force bites the lead cart’s lift, and the raider leader’s mount lurches out of the air. Iron scrapes stone as the cart slams crookedly into the crater rim, breaking the ring’s smooth sweep.

Down! Close in!

I summon flying fire breathing small demons to attack

Ankura Anura drives the harsh weight of his magic into the leader cart again, and the broken lift gives way. The raider mount drops hard against the rim, jolting the front line apart.

From the dark arc of the crater wall, small winged demons spill into view, each one wreathed in a breath of fire. They dive at the nearest raider carts, snapping, scorching, and forcing riders to duck.

The Lead Raider

The Lead Raider

Scatter them! Cut the summoner down!

A raider cart clips another and skews sideways, wheels scraping stone. The encirclement buckles into a ragged line, no longer a clean ring around the camp.

The Stone-Lieutenant

The Stone-Lieutenant

Hold the cargo. They are breaking.

One of the small demons scorches Ankura Anura’s forearm on the launch, and the smell of singed scale hangs in the thin air. The creatures keep coming anyway, circling back over the supplies.

By the trade, that is a fierce answer. Keep them off the bundles!

I enthrall the summoned demons to fight fiercely

Ankura Anura pours the spell again, but the winged demons do not kneel to it. The force catches them, shivers their circles, and slips free in sparks across the thin air.

Instead of obedience, they turn wild and savage, wheeling lower over the cargo with their fire held tighter in their throats.

The Stone-Lieutenant sees the change at once and slams his blade toward the raiders, using the opening before the swarm lashes out again.

One demon peels away from the pack and hovers near Ankura Anura, its bright eyes fixed on the scorch mark as if it has learned his scent.

The Lead Raider

The Lead Raider

There, the beast-master strains! Break his line and take the camp!

But the failed command leaves a telltale twist in the air, a brief rhythm the demons still answer to if someone else seizes it.

For a heartbeat, the swarm’s circle opens toward Ankura Anura, and every rider in the broken ring can see where the next pressure point lies.

I repeat

Ankura Anura gathers the broken rhythm back into himself and thrusts it outward again. The spell catches the lead raider’s cart this time, dragging hard at its levitation and snapping its nose low.

The cart bucks, skids sideways in the air, and drops out of line. Raiders behind it jolt apart to avoid the falling frame, their circle breaking wider over the crater rim.

The swarm above the supplies shudders with the same tug, but it does not kneel. It twists instead, spiraling toward the gap Ankura has opened, wings flashing over the braced trench and cart.

The Lead Raider

The Lead Raider

He pulls at our line, crush him before he settles it!

For one breath, Ankura feels the pattern behind the winged demons, not a command, but a relay, one rider to the next through the air itself.

The lead cart slams down hard near the rim, throwing up dust and sparks, and the raider formation wavers around the impact.

The Stone-Lieutenant

The Stone-Lieutenant

There, Ankura, they are off-balance. Hit the one carrying the turn next.

I enthral my summoned crowd to fight to death

SUCCESS (Good Magic, rolled +1)

Ankura Anura gathers the summoned tide around his will and drives it into the raiders’ line. The winged crowd turns from wild circling to a single feral purpose, plunging at the carts above the crater rim.

The raiders lose their tight ring at once. Some break away to protect their mounts, others wrench sideways to escape the descending swarm, and the opening over the supplies widens into a rout.

The Lead Raider

The Lead Raider

Hold the line, you cowards! They are ours to break!

The command comes too late. The summoned creatures hammer the raider formation apart, forcing carts low, driving riders off balance, and scattering them from the camp’s center.

The Stone-Lieutenant

The Stone-Lieutenant

That is it, press them out of the crater!

The strain answers the victory, and Ankura’s left arm flares with a sharp burn where the spell bites back through him. But the swarm holds, and the raiders give ground under the press.

Above the braced trench and cart, the last clear gap closes in the raiders’ favor. Their assault fractures outward, leaving the camp’s cargo ringed by Ankura’s control and the enemy forced back from the supplies.
