Adventure of Match 1

The concealed cable walk ends at an obsolete freight relay platform above stacked cargo lines. Niko steps off behind Match while Mara remains on the warehouse roofs, covering the retreat.

Rust-dark housings surround a maintenance cradle sunk into the platform. Its reader wakes as Niko brings out the authenticated shard, projecting a demand for a second verified device.

A red countdown crawls across Niko’s wrist display, inherited from Station Twelve’s local cache. Its remaining seconds reflect in the rain beading on his sleeve.

Below, freight signals blink through the mist and automated cranes shift between cargo stacks. The cradle holds its interface open, waiting for the second credential and leaving the next move to Match.

Match searches the obsolete platform by reflected maintenance markings, checking each dormant housing without disturbing the cradle. Niko stays close, keeping the authenticated shard ready while Mara watches from the warehouse roofs.

The inspection costs them twelve seconds. Beneath a corroded access plate, Match finds a palm-sized municipal verifier recessed into the relay structure, its status diode dark but its credential seal intact.

Match frees the verifier from its cradle and slots its contact bridge into the relay platform. The device wakes without transmitting, displaying a local credential handshake and a manual accept control.

Niko places the authenticated shard beside the verifier. The cradle accepts both credentials, and the evidence cache begins transferring into the verified device while the countdown continues.
