The mine descends into black, wet stone. Carfal, a lean adult man in a patched gray coat and dust mask, with dark brown eyes visible above the mask and a thin scar crossing one eyebrow, stumbles across the tunnel, waving urgently toward a passage marked with faded red arrows.
Behind him, a huge pale spider clings to the ceiling supports. Its many legs scrape against timber, but it keeps several body lengths away instead of striking.

Carfal
Sun shu! There you are! Do not come closer. The marked route leads to Slivason, but the supports are failing.
A deep groan rolls through the mine. Dust sifts from the ceiling, pattering over rusted rails and the old warning signs half buried beneath rubble.

Carfal
I thought the spider was hunting me. Now it follows, but it will not cross that line. Something beyond it has frightened everything in here.

Sun shu
The mine is unstable, and the kitter is due soon.
Carfal backs toward the red-marked passage, one hand raised to slow her. The spider remains motionless above, while another support cracks somewhere in the darkness.

“Let's find a place to make camp in this cave carfal unless you want to part ways that up to you love 💓”
FAILURE (Mediocre Survival, rolled -1)

Sun shu
Let's find a place to make camp in this cave, Carfal, unless you want to part ways. That is up to you, love.
Sun shu searches along the tunnel wall for a level shelf above the wet rails. Carfal follows her toward a shallow recess beneath a rusted maintenance ladder.

Carfal
I will stay. But not there. The stone is hollow, and the supports are already giving way.
As Carfal reaches the recess, the ceiling groans again. A slab drops across the entrance, bursting into dust and sealing the shallow space before either of them can settle inside.

Carfal
Back! The cave has chosen for us. That was the only dry shelf near this passage.
The collapse blocks the red-marked route and leaves a narrow crack toward the deeper tunnel. Water begins threading through the fresh rubble, turning the rails slick.

Carfal
We cannot camp here now. The lower tunnel may have firmer ground, but it leads beyond the line the spider fears.

“Let's try a new camp sight you pick carfal”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Survival, rolled +1)

Sun shu
Let's try a new camp site you pick, Carfal.
Sun shu follows Carfal through the narrow crack, carefully bracing herself against the wet stone. Behind them, the collapsed entrance fades beneath settling dust.

Carfal
Then we go lower, but we stay left of the marked line. There is an old pump room ahead, if the floor holds.
Carfal leads her past a dead junction box and a line of corroded pipes. The tunnel opens into a broad service chamber with a raised concrete platform above the seepage.

Carfal
Here. The platform is dry, the ceiling is supported, and that vent still moves air. This is our camp.
He clears loose grit from the platform and checks the nearest support with his gloved knuckles. It answers with a solid, reassuring thud.

Carfal
We can rest here without blocking the passage. I will keep watch first, and the spider can remain where it feels safe.
