Janet arrives at the immaculate Yuko residence beneath a gray afternoon sky. Beyond the mansion’s gates, a towering Pinno moves between parked cars, visible only to spiritually awakened eyes.
Marlene stands beneath the stone entry arch, small and slim in a dark coat, brown skin and silver eyes fixed on the threat. A phone, camera, and handwritten notes surround her.
Marlene
You came. Good. It is approaching someone near the east garden, and I need the encounter documented before the Blankos take this duty from me.
The Pinno pauses beside a delivery van, its enormous shadow-black body bending toward the mansion’s side path. A distant pedestrian, a young adult woman with brown skin, short curly black hair, and a mustard raincoat over dark trousers, continues unaware, walking directly into its route.
Marlene
Do not destroy the evidence unless there is no alternative. Its pattern, its target, and how it crosses the living world are what will restore my standing.
Janet
The threat is between the mansion and an unaware pedestrian.
Marlene’s camera light blinks red as she starts recording. The Pinno turns its monstrous head toward the approaching person, while the mansion’s polished windows reflect the danger.

The pedestrian keeps walking, separated from the monstrous silhouette by the sudden barrier and still unaware of what moved behind it.

Good. Keep its attention away from her, and do not let it reach the garden.
Janet moves away from the pedestrian along the mansion’s outer drive, keeping the rapier visible beyond the ice. The Pinno’s huge head jerks toward her.
Its shadow-black body presses against the frozen wall. Ice groans but holds, forcing the Pinno to turn from the blocked path and follow Janet’s retreating position.
Marlene
She redirected it cleanly. Now I can record how it responds to a Blanko lure.
The pedestrian passes beyond the mansion’s east garden without looking back. Behind her, the Pinno abandons the van and advances after Janet, while Marlene keeps filming.
