Still clutching the silver case beneath his jacket, Artyom reaches a gray maintenance door as the crowd surges behind him. The mercenary cordon stays at the platform, sealing the auction floor while no one follows into the side passage.
A concealed terminal wakes beneath the door's paint. Its scanner catches the sandevistan's internal serial through the case, and a thin green line races across the lock.
The Auction System
Final buyer confirmation remains pending.
The maintenance door unlocks with a heavy magnetic clack. Beyond it, a narrow corridor descends through concrete and cable bundles, lit by intermittent strips of emergency blue.
Behind him, the crowd compresses against the barricades. Drones break their disciplined rings and begin recalibrating, lenses pivoting through new search patterns around the empty platform.
The Auction System
Final buyer confirmation remains pending. Please remain within the authorized transaction zone.
The system's voice follows through the open doorway, flattened by corridor speakers. The lock waits beside Artyom, green status light steady, while the auction noise churns behind him.

“I slip through the maintenance door and descend with the case concealed. While also keeping a high alert for anything that can blow my cover. Also looking a way to reach the streets quickly and escape the Corpo building.”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled +1)
Artyom slips through the maintenance door and eases it shut around the magnetic latch. The silver case stays tight beneath his jacket as he descends into blue emergency light.
Artyom Barseek
The corridor cameras are live, but their sweep leaves blind intervals.
He moves only during those intervals, checking cable junctions, ceiling vents, and access panels. A service schematic glows through grime beside a locked freight lift, marked STREET DELIVERY.
The Auction System
Unauthorized asset movement detected beyond the transaction zone.
Artyom reaches the freight lift before the warning can repeat. His enhanced fingers bridge the exposed control contacts, and the doors part onto a descending cage with a direct street-level route.
The lift drops through the building’s concrete spine. Moments later, it opens behind a recycling depot in a rain-slick service alley, carrying Artyom and the concealed case out beneath Night City’s neon haze.
