Jane wraps the repaired stuffed animal in clean cloth and ties it with a neat cord. She balances the parcel atop a precarious bundle of spools, shears, needles, and folded fabric.
The apartment falls quiet behind you, its workbench unattended and the remaining plushies watching from their crowded shelves. Jane opens the door and guides you into Lanternmarket Lane.
Lanternmarket Lane is narrow and bright with hanging lamps, striped awnings, and shoulder-to-shoulder foot traffic. Vendors call over baskets of fruit, dyed cloth, charms, and hot pastries.
Jane Singer
Stay close, Spinnerette. If that bundle falls, the needles will scatter everywhere.
Spinnerette Singer
The lane leaves barely enough room to turn without brushing someone.
Children weave between the adults and slow when they notice you. Nearby vendors pause their calls, while passersby glance from your silk to Jane's overloaded arms.
Children
Look, look! Is that real spider silk? Can she make more?

Keep Jane’s bundle intact
“I help Jane steady the bundle”
FAILURE (Superb Agility, rolled -1)
Spinnerette Singer reaches toward Jane's precarious bundle, but the crowded lane leaves no clear purchase. Her fingers brush empty air as the stack leans away from her.
A spool rolls free, followed by folded cloth and a glinting pair of shears. Jane catches the shears against her elbow, but several needles slip between the paving stones.
Jane Singer
Oh, bother. Don't reach into that tangle, dear. Let me get the sharp things first.
Jane lowers the bundle onto the edge of a nearby empty produce crate, where its weight settles instead of threatening to spill. The scattered cloth remains within reach.
Spinnerette Singer
The crate gives the bundle a steadier resting place.
Jane Singer
There. If we use this as a table, I can gather everything safely. You can watch the cloth while I collect the needles.
The children lean closer, but Jane's firm glance keeps them back. The crate offers a practical opening: the bundle can be reorganized before the journey continues.
“I distract the children with a silk trick”
SUCCESS (Legendary Crafts, rolled +0)
Spinnerette Singer draws a fine strand from her fingertips and flicks it above the crate. The silk catches the lanternlight, becoming a bright, floating ribbon.
Children
Oh! It is dancing!
She loops the ribbon through the air, shaping a tiny spider, then a fluttering moth. The children, a mixed group of boys and girls in bright patched tunics, with tousled hair and small satchels cluster around the harmless performance, their attention pulled safely away from the scattered needles.
Jane Singer
That is lovely, dear. Keep them looking up while I finish gathering these.
Spinnerette Singer
The silk holds its shape beautifully in the warm air.
Children
Make it fly again! Make it fly!
The silk moth rises and dips above their heads, drawing delighted faces toward the lamps. Beside the crate, Jane calmly retrieves the last needle and begins sorting the recovered supplies.
