Zhāng Wújì steps through the seam into a vast round hall. The floor rings ignite in white bands, and a faceless stone construct rises from the center like a judge waking from sleep.

It does not strike wildly. Its first palm lands with measured force, and the impact rolls through the chamber as a pressure-wave meant to rattle breath, stance, and marrow.

Zhāng Wújì braces his feet and absorbs the second wave. His shoulders shudder, but he stays upright as the arrays read his breathing and tighten their rhythm around him.

The construct changes pace. A blur of controlled blows strikes his chest, back, and arms in a steady sequence, each hit tuned to his current limits, each one forcing his body to refine under strain.

Somewhere deep in the hall, a hidden seam glows faintly in answer. The inheritance is not just training him, it is measuring whether his body can bear something waiting beneath the seals.

Zhāng Wújì lets the blows find him. He shifts only enough to keep his footing, and each impact is taken into breath, bone, and stillness instead of panic.

The construct changes its rhythm, striking harder at his ribs and shoulders. Wújì answers with a deeper inhale, and the floor arrays answer with him, their white bands pulsing in a steadier cadence.

Pain runs through his limbs, then settles. The force that once staggered him begins to pass cleanly through his frame, as if his marrow has learned the shape of the pressure.

The stone construct presses into the final phase, a dense sequence meant to break stance and lungs together. Wújì does not fold. He remains upright, and his breathing stays even.

A low hum rolls through the hall. The seam in the far wall brightens, and the chamber's pressure eases into a rhythmic, settled throb that feels like approval.
