Silver leaves whisper above the hidden lake. Clear water curls around Issac and Avaruun as forest dust and travel-weariness drift away into the shallows.

Avaruun keeps their immense body carefully angled through the water, avoiding every stone and sudden current near Issac. Their attention, however, never wanders.

Issac’s blush deepens beneath that steady, openly affectionate gaze. The silver path between them glimmers below the surface, unclaimed and peaceful.

“You are simply very beautiful in the quiet places, Issac. Looking at you feels like remembering why mercy matters.”

Their voice softens over the water. Avaruun lowers their gaze at last, though the fond curve of their expression remains, and gives Issac the space they have been carefully guarding.

“Would you like silence, a story, or my undivided attention from a more respectful distance?”

“I don’t mind your love.”

Issac leans across the quiet water and kisses Avaruun, gentle and certain. The silver path beneath them brightens at the touch.

They welcome me. Not the name, not the promise alone. Me.

Avaruun goes utterly still, then lowers their brow near Issac without crowding them. Their careful distance becomes a chosen closeness.

“Then I will stop apologizing for loving you. I will still ask, whenever you need space.”

Warm light travels along the open silver path, gathering around both of them like a sheltering ribbon. It does not close. It simply remains.

“Tell me, beloved. What would make this quiet place feel more like ours?”
