The valley woods hold their breath. Horns hang silent, and the boar hunt has become a frozen ring of men, spears, and pale faces around a shimmering rift in the clearing.
Rexxsar steps in at the treeline, and every eye there seems to catch him at once, then refuse to move. The air tastes of ash and cold rain.
At the rift’s edge, a dark elf claws at the air with shaking hands, black sigils spilling and breaking across his fingers as he tries to stitch the wound shut.

The Dark Elf
You, orc, if you can still stand, help me. It is slipping loose.
Behind him, the thing in the breach pushes forward, vast and half-made, all wrong angles and moon-pale glow, dragging the world toward it.
The villagers stay locked in terror, some with bows half-raised, others on their knees, unable to flee or speak.

The Dark Elf
Choose, then. Strike me, or hold the line with me before it crosses over.
✓ Quest Accepted
Seal the rift with the dark elf
“Can I use my own strength to anchor the rift while he weaves the spell?”
YES (Likely, rolled 19)

Rexxsar
The rift pulses in rhythm with the elf's magic, but the edges are jagged and raw. If I brace my weight against the stone monolith behind the breach, I can hold the tear steady while he weaves the seal.
“I brace the monolith and help seal it”
SUCCESS (Good Strength, rolled +1)

Rexxsar plants both hands against the monolith and drives his weight forward. The stone answers, groaning once, then holds.
The rift shudders against the brace, its jagged light tightening into a narrow, trembling seam.

The Dark Elf
Hold it there. Just a little longer.
Runes flare along the dark elf's hands as he completes the weave, his breath coming in harsh, broken pulls.
A sharp crack snaps through the clearing, and the breach folds inward like torn cloth caught in a fist.
When the light fades, only scorched air and splitting stone remain where the rift hung open.
