Cole enters an underground shrine where blue witchflames tremble along the walls. Before a sealed stone gate, an adult elf woman in a rain-dark green mantle braces herself against its cracking sigils. Silver hair clings to her sharp-featured face, and a bloodless hand grips a rune-carved staff.

The gate is breaking inward. Black water spills through the widening seams, sliding over the shrine steps as pale roots writhe within it and claw toward the chamber.

Elaris

Elaris

You came at the final hour. I am Elaris, sworn emissary of the old throne. Beyond this passage lies the road to dethroning Vaelor, the usurper.

Elaris twists her staff, and a lattice of green light arrests the gate for one breath. The shrine groans around her, dust raining from carved saints whose faces have been worn smooth.

Elaris

Elaris

If I release the seal, the flood takes the road. If I hold it, these foundations bury us both. I cannot preserve the passage and the shrine alone.

Another root punches through the gate and coils across the highest step, dragging a sheet of black water behind it. Elaris plants her feet, her slender build taut beneath the mantle, caught between the failing seal and the collapsing shrine.

One choice saves the cause. The other saves the living. There may be no third path.

The gate shudders again, and a deep subterranean roar rolls through the chamber. Elaris looks toward Cole, waiting while the water rises around the shrine steps.

Dethrone Vaelor

“*Cole rolls his neck, briefly exhaling out, before resting Crimson Redemption, the Purgatory-Crafted, Fifth Demon King Blade, and Super-Massive Black Hole (Nova Void) Generator onto his shoulder with ease. His 6''9 height stood, apparent, before standing tall and broad. He yawned with a tired sense of disinterest at the quest his leader, Grey Von Twilight, sent him out to do. His bright, amber orbs however, flashed with an alert, keen sense of amusement.* "Oi, Oi. There's no need for any sacrificial bullshit. I'm one of the Asura-Kin. The Celestial Reaper, himself. Cole Covenhelm. I'm here to stabilize the Incursion of the Necro-Gateway, since there are so many souls."”

Cole rolls his neck and settles Crimson Redemption across his shoulder as though its immense weight were nothing. He rises to his full height, yawns at the shrine's crisis, and lets bright amber eyes sharpen with amused attention.

Cole Covenhelm

Oi, Oi. There's no need for any sacrificial bullshit. I'm one of the Asura-Kin. The Celestial Reaper, himself. Cole Covenhelm. I'm here to stabilize the Incursion of the Necro-Gateway, since there are so many souls.

His Arcane Heritage answers first, drawing ancient power through bone and blood. The Chosen One's mark ignites beneath his skin, while Crimson Redemption drinks the spell into its Purgatory-Crafted edge.

Cole's cocky disregard twists the working dangerously wide, but the blade corrects it. A black sun blooms beyond the gate, its impossible gravity folding the Necro-Gateway's breach inward without touching the living shrine.

The pale roots freeze in the air. Black water hangs in a silent ring, then drains backward through sealed seams as Nova Void compresses the incursion into a calm, starless aperture.

Elaris

Elaris

By the old throne... you stabilized it. The souls are contained, and the passage stands. What are you, truly, Cole Covenhelm?

The shrine settles into uneasy silence. Green light fades from Elaris's staff, and she lowers it at last while the sealed gate gives no further crack or groan.

“*Cole sniffs dismissively, tilting his head at her with a minor confused expression, scratching his ear with his pinky as he crudely turned to frown at the Shrine's sealing process, realizing his Second Origin mana overcame the Shrine. His Aether mana, condensed and thick, was able to enforce the Structure solid.* "Eh? I'm just a humble reaper, and representative of the Asura-Kin, like I just said. There are so many damned Incursions all over these Realms....Elaris, right? I need you for something. My leader, Grey...Told me a land called Vaelor..What do YOU know about it?"”

Cole sniffs, tilts his head, and scratches his ear with one pinky. His dismissive posture makes the question sound less like diplomacy than an inspection of Elaris's usefulness.

He turns toward the sealed shrine, frowning at the green sigils. His Second Origin mana has overcome the ward, while condensed Aether reinforces every fractured line into solid structure. The Chosen One's mark steadies the pattern, though his Arcane Heritage carries the working beyond what his careless arrogance can safely finesse.

Cole Covenhelm

Cole Covenhelm

Eh? I'm just a humble reaper, and representative of the Asura-Kin, like I just said. There are so many damned Incursions all over these Realms. Elaris, right? I need you for something. My leader, Grey, told me a land called Vaelor. What do you know about it?

Elaris

Elaris

Vaelor is no land, Reaper. It is the name the usurper stole for his dominion, a realm built across the old throne's heartlands. Its citadel stands beyond the Necro-Gateway, where the dead are pressed into service and every oath becomes a chain.

Elaris's relief hardens into guarded appraisal. Cole has his answer, but his flippancy has stripped away her willingness to treat him as an ally rather than a dangerous instrument.

Elaris

Elaris

I will tell you its roads, its sentinels, and the fracture beneath Vaelor's throne. In return, you owe me one service for making me spend my trust on a stranger who calls himself humble.

“*Cole's signature cocky, laid-back smirk disappeared, as he frowned at the question, before sighing out, sheathing Crimson Redemption and zipping up his cloak.* "Sheesh. And I thought Ana-Chan was stern. Ah, well. If some Random Powerful, Anti-Authoritarian Mage showed up to my Forest, I'd be pretty pissed too. Now, El. What would that favor be?"”

Cole's signature smirk vanishes into a frown. He sighs, sheaths Crimson Redemption, and zips his cloak while the shrine's blue flames ripple across his broad silhouette.

Cole Covenhelm

Cole Covenhelm

Sheesh. And I thought Ana-Chan was stern. Ah, well. If some random powerful, anti-authoritarian mage showed up to my forest, I'd be pretty pissed too. Now, El. What would that favor be? I don't like doin' these kind of things, but shit. It's quite the pain.

His Arcane Heritage smooths the request's roughest edges, and the Chosen One's mark lends it unmistakable weight. Yet his cocky phrasing makes the favor sound like a challenge rather than an honest bargain.

Elaris

Elaris

You ask as though naming the price makes you generous. It does not. I will not trade Vaelor's roads for a casual promise and a sharp blade.

Elaris lifts her staff again, not to attack, but to draw a green circle around the sealed gate. The light divides the passage from the chamber, making her terms suddenly tangible.

Elaris

Elaris

Swear to reach the throne's heartlands, break the chain binding the dead, and return with proof that Vaelor's dominion can bleed. Until then, I give you no road, no sentinel's name, and no fracture beneath the throne.

Elaris

Elaris

That is the favor, Reaper. Not obedience to me. A wound dealt to the tyrant, where your power cannot mistake spectacle for liberation.

The green circle tightens, and the gate's sigils dim behind it. Elaris has converted the exchange into a binding threshold: information now waits behind a deed, not another question.

“Does Cole's Cosmic Power overwhelm her? Like why is she being like that”

NO (VeryLikely, rolled 93)

The green circle does not tighten against Cole. It holds its shape, steady and deliberate, while Elaris meets his gaze without flinching. Her caution is not fear of being overpowered.

Elaris

Elaris

Your cosmic power does not compel me, Reaper. I have watched greater forces mistake destruction for freedom, and I will not hand Vaelor's secrets to another spectacle.

Her staff remains raised, but its tip points toward the gate rather than Cole. The distinction is plain: she is establishing terms, not preparing to withstand his strength.

Elaris

Elaris

I am being exact because the old throne died through careless bargains. My oath is all that remains between this passage and those who would use it to enthrone another tyrant.

The sealed gate answers with a low resonance, as though the shrine recognizes the weight of her vow. Elaris's guarded manner is discipline shaped by betrayal, not a challenge to Cole's supremacy.

Elaris

Elaris

If you truly mean liberation, you can bear one measured promise. If you mean only to prove that nothing can resist you, then my silence is the safer road.

The accusation hangs beneath the blue witchflames. She has not dismissed Cole's power; she has refused to let power alone decide whether he deserves her trust.

“*Cole hums in acknowledgement, respecting her dedication, and grins, an understanding, calm grin.* "Ah. I understand now. Well, I do believe in growth as a healthy medium to forge the road to trust. Funny, isn't it? You have my word. I'll see this through."”

Cole hums in acknowledgment, and his grin settles into something calm and understanding. He offers the promise without swagger, respecting the dedication that keeps Elaris standing before the gate.

Cole Covenhelm

Cole Covenhelm

Ah. I understand now. I do believe in growth as a healthy medium to forge the road to trust. Funny, isn't it? You have my word. I'll see this through.

The vow enters the green circle, but Cole's Oath-Bound nature catches against its exact demands. Arcane Heritage keeps the promise from shattering, while the Chosen One's mark forces it to answer rather than fade.

The circle fractures into three uneven arcs. One seals around Cole's pledge to reach the heartlands; the other two remain dark, refusing to recognize the dead's chain or proof of Vaelor's vulnerability.

Elaris

Elaris

Your word reached the threshold, Reaper, but not the whole oath. The gate accepts your road to the heartlands and rejects the rest as unproven intent.

Rather than open, the gate sheds a thin green shard into Elaris's palm. Within it, a map of Vaelor's outer road appears, ending at a black chain symbol beneath the words: witness the binding before you break it.

Elaris

Elaris

This is your opening. Follow the road, witness what holds the dead, and return with proof. Then the remaining promise may become something the old throne can recognize.

“*Cole nodded, before exhaling out, closing his eyes briefly, before his bright amber orbs snapped open, shattering through the portal, and entering the Road into Vaelor, moving at Light Speed.* "See you in a bit, El."”
