Adventure of Cælum 1

The blue ember lifts from the basin. Its narrow radiance pierces the stone floor, tracing map-lines that descend beneath Clæster Fjord.

Beneath the basin, a second sigil emerges from the dust. Its warning divides into two mirrored marks: inheritance cannot be claimed by one path alone.

The beam splits across the floor, one branch ending before Cælum, the other before Preston. Between them, a dark seam opens toward stairs descending into the hidden foundations of Clæster Fjord.

Cælum places his foot on the stair marked by his branch of radiance. The stone accepts his weight, and the blue light steadies beneath him.

Preston steps onto his mirrored path. The two beams join below, forming a single road into the foundations.

Far beneath the chamber, carved letters kindle along the stair: LET THE BEARER DESCEND, THAT THE BURIED HAND MAY AWAKEN.

Preston’s gaze drops to the joined light, then lifts toward Cælum. He remains on the stair, silent, giving the answer room to settle.

Cælum steps forward, then sets another measured pace upon the joined radiance. The stair bears him smoothly downward, its light steady beneath his feet.

Preston's matching stair descends at Cælum's side, its radiance answering each pace with a steady glow. The blue ember far above remains visible through the shaft, a small flame watching over their joined descent.

The joined stair carries Cælum and Preston to a foundation chamber beneath Clæster Fjord. Their feet meet ancient stone together, and the radiant steps fold shut above them, leaving the blue ember far overhead beyond reach.

The words strike the central sigils, but Cælum's will does not reach beyond them. The carved lines flare blue, then fold inward around his shadow.

Stone beneath Cælum's feet opens into a shallow circle of light. Within it rests a dark, hand-shaped imprint, while thin radiance climbs toward his wrists without touching him.

The blue ember far overhead answers with a single pulse. The imprint turns toward Preston, and a second outline appears beside the first, waiting for his hand.

Therefore, Preston lowers his hand into the waiting outline. The two marks join, and the circle accepts them both.

The imprint answers by filling with pale gold. Lines rise from Cælum's shadow to Preston's palm, then branch around Cælum like a sheltering wall.

A hidden chamber appears within the light: a winged seal enclosing a living spark, with a second mark pressed beneath it, shaped like a clasp. The legacy offers protection, but its protection requires possession.

Cælum studies the clasp beneath the winged seal instead of touching it. His sigil lore catches the hidden order: the clasp is not a shackle, but a covenant mark, activated only by freely joined companions.

Therefore, Cælum traces the seal's radiance with his gaze, and the pattern opens its meaning fully. The inheritance intends to shield him from a buried force, while anchoring that shield to a companion's voluntary witness.

The clasp unfolds into a golden doorway within the seal. Beyond it lies a descending passage marked with two parallel handprints, and a small sigil burns beside the threshold, promising passage without surrender.
