Adventure of Senko the mercenary

The general, a gaunt man with weathered brown skin, dark utility trousers, and a red command insignia at his collar, an elderly man in a scorched command coat, stands beside the fractured hangar gantry. Silver hair frames his rigid face, and a cracked tactical visor covers one eye.

Senko closes the distance and fires once. The general drops out of the battle, and the surrounding alarms swallow the brief report of the weapon.

She moves on without pause, crossing between disabled loaders and smoking barricades toward the nearest wrecked machine. No one steps into her path.

Her mecha crouches in the salvage lane, armor scorched and one shoulder actuator locked. Its maintenance spine opens at her approach, exposing dense runs of cable and modular plating.

Senko strips a compact targeting optic, two intact servo couplings, and a heat-damaged power regulator from the wreck. Each component disappears into the mecha's waiting service cradle.

For a short while, the battlefield becomes a workshop. Tools click beneath the armor, replacement parts lock into place, and the machine's diagnostic glow steadies from amber to green.

The hangar burns behind her as the mecha rises. Its engines gather a hard metallic whine, ready to carry Senko onward through the fractured war zone.

Senko climbs into the cockpit as the service cradle folds shut. Automated arms seat the servo couplings, route the targeting optic, and lock the power regulator into the damaged core.

The mecha rises through smoke and falling sparks. Its rebuilt shoulder tracks smoothly, while fresh targeting data paints six remaining defenders across the salvage lane.

A burst of energy fire cuts across the wreckage. The mecha pivots through it, armor shedding the impact, then answers with controlled blasts that scatter the Hangar Defenders from their positions.

One barricade collapses beneath the machine's foot. The others vanish behind smoke and shattered plating as Senko drives forward, leaving no organized resistance in the lane.

The mecha pauses only long enough to harvest intact ammunition cells, armor panels, coolant lines, and a sealed navigation module. Its storage racks accept every usable component.

Then the machine turns toward open ground and accelerates, engines hammering through the burning war zone. Behind it, the stripped hangar falls silent except for alarms and cooling metal.

Open ground swallows the mecha in smoke and crossfire. Six Hangar Defenders pivot their machines toward Senko, forming a desperate firing line among burned-out carriers.

Senko's machine surges forward like a released war-beast. Its targeting optic marks each cockpit, while ammunition cells feed the cannons in a relentless mechanical rhythm.

Shells hammer through the formation. One defender vanishes behind a flash, then another, as controlled bursts punch through armor and silence every opposing machine.

The last wreck collapses into the roadway. No defender remains active, and the battlefield opens ahead beneath drifting ash and the red pulse of distant alarms.

Senko stops among the ruined machines. Recovery arms unfold from her mecha, cutting loose intact weapons, armor plates, coolant systems, and hardened cockpit hardware for immediate salvage.

The harvested components lock into storage as the mecha rises again, heavier with stolen potential. Its rebuilt systems recalibrate, hungry for the next battlefield.
