Asher stands beneath the black-snow arch before the ruined watchtower. The oracle remains beyond the severed green-fire path, and no companion has crossed with him; the burning mark on his palm answers the crystal’s shudder in his hidden pocket dimension.

The deliberate knock sounds again. Starlight parts the doorway, revealing Vaelith, an imposing adult elf-dragon sentinel in dark silver armor, with scaled bronze features, swept-back white hair, and a long sword held across the threshold.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Asher luminar. The dead realm has carried your name ahead of you.

Vaelith’s sword remains steady, its edge catching pale light from the doorway. Black flakes gather on the sentinel’s pauldrons without melting, while the watchtower’s inner stars pulse like distant eyes.

Vaelith

Vaelith

You seek the first star-door, yet passage belongs only to those whose warning has truly crossed the nine realms.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Give proof that the oath-stones spoke beyond their chamber. Show me what reached kings, hidden peoples, and the far listeners beyond heaven.

The doorway opens no wider. Behind Vaelith, a stair of starlight descends into the tower’s depths, while the burning mark on Asher’s palm flares once beneath the falling black snow.

Asher luminar

O guardian of ancient wars, who stood for the gods before these doors, tell me this: do the gods desire chaos across the nine realms or beyond, especially Hera?

The question enters the tower like a struck bell. Vaelith’s bronze scales catch the starlight, and the sword across the threshold lowers until its point rests upon the stone.

Vaelith

Vaelith

No. The gods do not desire chaos. They desire consequence, and some mistake the two when mortal kingdoms refuse the shape of truth.

Vaelith

Hera most of all does not hunger for ruin. She demands order, oath, and the price of betrayal. Yet order guarded without wisdom can become another kind of destruction.

At Hera’s name, a vast adult goddess rendered as a faceless constellation, the tower’s inner stars flare crimson, then settle into a vast constellation shaped like a crowned woman holding broken chains.

Vaelith

The falling star threatens every realm because it breaks ancient boundaries. The gods will answer, but their answers may clash. Carry your warning wisely, Prince Asher, and the first star-door will receive you.

“I vow in the name of Styx and lady astraea I'll speak only the truth seeking order till my last breath and if I were to manage opposite at all in my life I shall willingly be dragged to the underworld or tartarus to be tortured no matter what lies in store for me even if its eternity of pain that I'll be forced to endure”

In the name of Styx and Lady Astraea, I vow to speak only truth in pursuit of order until my last breath. If I betray this vow, let the underworld claim me.

The oath leaves Asher’s lips and sinks into the tower stones. The burning mark on his palm splits with a sharp flare, drawing a bead of blood as the hidden crystal answers.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Styx has heard you. Astraea has weighed the shape of your words. No oath spoken beneath these stars remains merely sound.

The constellation of Hera brightens above the stair. Crimson starlight threads through Asher’s bloodied palm, then settles into a pale sigil shaped like an open eye.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Your truth is accepted, Prince Asher. The first star-door recognizes your vow, though it will remember every falsehood you choose thereafter.

Vaelith steps aside at last. The starlit stair opens fully, descending toward a vast sealed door whose edges glow with the same pale sigil.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Go forward, keeper of the warning. Order will not spare you its cost, but the door now belongs to your sworn purpose.

Fair thee well, great guardian.

Asher walks through the threshold. The pale sigil opens beneath his step, and the starlit stair receives him as the sealed star-door parts without resistance.

Vaelith

Vaelith

Go beneath the first star, Prince Asher. Let truth be the blade you never lower.

The door closes behind Asher with a sound like distant thunder. Vaelith’s presence vanishes beyond it, leaving only the descending radiance and the pulse of the hidden crystal.

The cost follows immediately. The open-eye sigil burns across Asher’s palm, drawing another bead of blood before sealing into a dark, permanent line.

Below, the stair ends in a vast chamber suspended beneath a starless sky. Nine narrow bridges extend over silver mist, each marked with a different realm-sign.
