You arrive at the cemetery gates beneath a moonless sky. Beyond the gravestones, a dark wave of zombies pushes toward the city road, drawn onward by the fading summoning.
Lacey Strum stands among the open graves, one hand lowered as the last arcane sparks vanish. Cheer Girl Cheryl Lee braces her chainsaw beside Stella Nabokov, blocking the path to the gates.
Cheer Girl Cheryl Lee
Lacey, stop! Whatever that raider chief did, sending all these dead into the City is not cheering anybody up!
Stella Nabokov
The cemetery is full of moving people now! That seems bad. Very, very bad!
The zombie horde spills between the tombstones, slow but relentless. Several reach the cemetery wall, dragging themselves toward the road while the city lights flicker beyond.
Lacey Strum
He hunted my parents, burned their home, and laughed while they died. Let the City remember his name with me.
Cheer Girl Cheryl Lee
Dante! We need help holding this line, and we need it right now!
Cheryl raises the roaring chainsaw as the first zombies reach the gate. Stella steps beside her, tambourine trembling in her hand, while Lacey turns toward the approaching horde.
✓ Quest Accepted
Contain the zombie horde
“Ask Stella to dispell Lacey's necromancy.”
SUCCESS (Fair Willpower, rolled +1)
Dante the Demon Hunter
Stella, dispel Lacey's necromancy. Stop the dead before they reach the City.
Dante's command cuts through the chainsaw's roar. Stella freezes, then lifts her tambourine toward Lacey as the horde presses against the cemetery gate.
Stella Nabokov
Yes! I can make the moving people stop moving. I think that is what you mean!
Stella strikes a bright, uneven rhythm. The sound rolls over the graves, and the fading summoning around Lacey collapses into harmless sparks.
Lacey Strum
No. Their voices were the only thing I had left.
The zombies slacken where they stand. One by one, they sink among the tombstones, leaving the road clear while Cheryl lowers her chainsaw a fraction.
Cheer Girl Cheryl Lee
That worked! Great teamwork, everybody. Now nobody else gets summoned tonight, okay?
