Adventure of Soros Corvanus 1

The courtyard convulses. Stone bursts upward in a spray of ash and grit, and a jagged limb of black, scale-like stone tears free from below. Cold violet mist spills around it, licking the broken rune-marked floor.

Soros Corvanus stands at the fracture’s edge as the shockwave rattles the chains in his grasp. The Shrine Maiden staggers back, but she does not release them, her arms trembling under the strain.

The star-shard flares, then dims, then flares again. Each pulse seems to answer the thing below, and the pale rune in the crack glows brighter in the same rhythm.

A second surge pushes through the opening. More of the creature shows now, a vast hidden shape turning in the dark, as if guided toward the surface by the rune’s summons.

The violet light gathers under the shattered stones, and the path is clear, the awakened thing is not merely breaking free, it is being called.

Soros drives his will through the chain links, and the metal answers with a sharp, pale hum. The shrine’s pulse tightens, then stumbles, as if a hand has closed over its throat.

The violet flare under the stones dims a shade, and the star-shard’s beat falls out of rhythm. Dust sifts down in a thin rain from the cracked canopy above.

The jagged limb below the fracture jerks once, then stills against the pressure. The rune in the break no longer surges outward, only flickers weakly through the ash.

For a breath, the courtyard steadies around them, but the faint violet glow still leaks between the stones, waiting on their next choice.
