Kylie of Antioch

The realm of Antioch once flourished under an ancient covenant that intertwined regal governance with the sacred, celestial arcana of the founding line. For centuries, rulers drew upon latent magical fonts to defend their borders, cultivate enduring prosperity, and maintain order across the provinces. Kylie was raised within the capital's high citadel as the legitimate heir, trained rigorously in the classical knightly arts of horsemanship, tactical strategy, and swordplay while showing early, volatile sparks of the dynasty’s dormant sorcery. Tragedy struck during a winter solstice council when her older brother orchestrated a brutal palace coup. Corrupted by forbidden doctrines and backed by a faction of renegade lords, he assassinated their father, the King, in the throne room and purged the royal guard of all loyalists. Branded a traitor and an apostate, Kylie barely survived the massacre, spirited out through subterranean aqueducts by a dying preceptor who entrusted her with the family’s silver-inlaid war plate and ancestral runic blade. Stripped of her royal identity, Kylie fled into the outer territories as a wandering spellsword, adopting the guise of an ordinary sellsword to evade bounty hunters and inquisitors. Behind her, the brother’s iron-fisted rule plunged Antioch into tyranny, replacing customary laws with brutal conscription and outlawing unchecked arcane practices. Now operating on the fringes of civilization, Kylie navigates fractured border towns and untamed wilds, systematically uncovering ancient arcane sites to unlock the full depth of her bloodline’s magic before mounting a campaign to shatter her brother's regime.
