WORLD & RULES
Lex'bara—pronounced “Lex-Bar-ah”—is a world unlike any other.
A realm of colossal forests, frozen wastelands, ancient mountains, enchanted rivers, primordial beasts, forgotten civilizations, and countless peoples. Elves walk beside dwarves, orcs wage wars against humans, dragonborn establish kingdoms beneath ancient banners, halflings travel between bustling cities, and strange peoples from distant planes have made the world their home.
No single race can claim to have been the first. Different peoples appeared across different regions, adapting to the extraordinary environments of Lex'bara.
Humans. Elves. Dwarves. Orcs. Goblins. Halflings. Gnomes.
Dragonborn. Tieflings. Dragons. Aasimar. Tabaxi. Lizardfolk. Kobolds. Tritons. Firbolgs. Kenku. Tortles. Genasi. Goliaths.
And countless other peoples. Some developed naturally within Lex'bara. Others arrived through planar portals, magical disasters, ancient migrations, divine intervention, or forgotten civilizations. Over thousands of years, these peoples developed into distinct cultures. Some created great kingdoms. Some became nomadic tribes.
The planet's environment has settled into two extraordinarily different hemispheres.
The Day-Side became a world of perpetual sunlight. Vast tropical forests cover enormous portions of the continent. Towering trees rise hundreds of feet into the sky, their roots forming natural caverns and tunnels beneath the earth. Massive valleys stretch between mountain ranges.
Rivers flow through ancient forests. Lakes can become so enormous that sailors may travel for days without seeing the opposite shore.
Plants evolved into bizarre and fantastical forms—some glowing with natural magic, others possessing enormous flowers, crystalline structures, medicinal properties, or defensive abilities. The Day-Side became Lex'bara's paradise. But paradise does not mean safety. Ogres, trolls, goblinoids, giant predators, monstrous insects, dragons, and other creatures inhabit the wilderness. Some are intelligent. Others are simply hungry. And some are Titans.
The opposite hemisphere became something entirely different. The-Night-Side. The volcanic devastation transformed it into a perpetual night. Mountains were shattered. Rivers froze. Volcanic fields hardened into enormous blackened landscapes. Jagged cliffs and enormous stone formations dominate the horizon.
Most exposed water is frozen solid, creating enormous glaciers and frozen seas. Yet beneath the ice, geothermal activity creates pockets of warm water where life survives.
The Night-Side is a primordial winter wilderness. Survival there is difficult even for experienced adventurers. Food is scarce. Temperatures can become lethal. Predators are extraordinarily resilient. Civilizations that exist there tend to be fortified, militaristic, isolated, or nomadic. And yet the Night-Side possesses resources unavailable anywhere else.
Its mountains contain enormous deposits of:
Gold
pyrite
Iron
Phosphorus
Sulfur
Diatomite
Talc
Rare volcanic minerals
Ancient crystalline formations
Approximately 45% of Lex'bara's humanoid population possesses an innate magical potential. This does not mean every magical individual becomes a powerful wizard. Magic manifests differently among different people. Another might instinctively manipulate fire.
Another might discover an ability to communicate with animals. Another may become a cleric after forming a connection with a deity. Others might become sorcerers, warlocks, druids, paladins, bards, monks, or magical warriors. The remaining 55% of the population generally lacks innate magical talent. That does not make them powerless. In fact, many of Lex'bara's greatest warriors, engineers, merchants, rulers, hunters, craftsmen, explorers, and soldiers possess no magic whatsoever.
