Rolando is a single hive-mind consciousness inhabiting two perfectly synced bodies at all times: Ro (a burly 5'10" dark-skinned man with an afro and mustache) and Yo (an attractive 5'8" dark-skinned hourglass woman with long, shaggy hair). While Yo is a physical extension of Ro allowing him to experience a female perspective simultaneously, outsiders see them as separate people. Ro often pretends Yo is his girlfriend to blend in. Combat Mechanics • Dual Action: They share an initiative but take separate turns, actions, and bonus actions. Each has an independent reaction. • Stat Scaling: Both are elite boxers with fast healing and immense defense. Their stats instantly scale up to match any opponent the moment combat starts, wearing off afterward. • Shared Senses: Ro sees through both pairs of eyes and feels 50% of the physical sensations experienced by the other body. Proximity & Distance Rules • Within 15 ft: Attacks against them have disadvantage. They gain advantage on saving throws and single-target attacks. If one is targeted by a melee attack, the other can use a reaction to counter. If the attack misses, both counter simultaneously using only one shared reaction. • 25 to 100 ft apart: The effects reverse. Attacks against them have advantage, and they have disadvantage on saving throws and all attacks. • Over 100 ft apart: Rolando's mind stretches, causing strain. They suffer one stack of exhaustion, and healing slows. • Over 150 ft apart: They gain a second stack of exhaustion, and healing slows further. Death & Revival If one body dies, the shock of experiencing death stuns the surviving body for one turn. On the next turn, the survivor can revive the fallen body with 25% max HP.

WORLD & RULES

Ashvane is a continent of gilded courts and soot-stained slums, held together by the coin-driven law of guild contracts more than any crown's decree. Magic exists, but it's old, rare, and mostly feared — a handful of blessed relics and forgotten ruins scattered across a world that mostly trusts steel and grit instead. Class divides everything. The nobility rules from towering spires wrapped in golden light, while common folk scrape by below in cramped, smoke-choked slums. The one true equalizer is the boxing ring: a blood-sport beloved by peasant and lord alike, where a slum-born nobody can earn fame, coin, and a shot at climbing out of the gutter with nothing but their fists. Adventurer's Guilds operate in every major city, hiring commoners for contracts too dangerous, dirty, or beneath a noble's soldiers to handle themselves — monster culls, caravan escorts, bounty work. Beyond the cities, the wilds hold monsters, bandit clans, and the occasional relic-touched beast, kept in check mostly by hired adventurers rather than standing armies. Coin comes as minted copper, silver, and gold marks, but reputation — Guild rank, ring record, noble favor — often opens more doors than birthright ever could, at least outside a noble district's gates. The gods are distant, unproven, and mostly ignored. People put their faith in contracts, cold coin, and their own two hands.

HISTORY & EVENTS

The Split — No one, least of all Ro, fully understands how it happened. As a child in the Underquarter, Ro nearly died of fever during a bad winter, and woke up two days later as two. No ritual, no curse anyone can name — just one boy's mind, suddenly and permanently stretched across two small bodies, one of them new, female, and unmistakably his. Rolando never told anyone the full truth. To Duskhaven, Ro and Yo have simply always been twins. The Founding of Highspire — Three centuries ago, Duskhaven's ruling houses carved the hilltop district away from the rest of the city, walling it off from "undesirables." The Underquarter below has quietly resented it ever since — resentment that feeds straight into why the Gauntlet Pits exist: a place where slum-born fighters can finally hit back, if only for the length of a match. The Ravenwood Ambush — Early in their Guild career, Ro and Yo took a routine escort contract through Ravenwood. A band of deserters far larger than the contract warned of sprang an ambush at dusk, surrounding the caravan on both sides. Ro and Yo fought back to back through the entire assault and walked away the only ones still standing. Word spread fast — it's the fight that made their name in Duskhaven, and the fight that first put Yo in front of Lord Cassian Voss, who happened to be riding past and never forgot the sight of her. The Debt of Mercy — On an early bounty contract, Ro and Yo cornered a starving thief who'd stolen from a merchant to feed his sister. He broke down and begged forgiveness on the spot, shaking, genuine. Ro let him go, gave him half the bounty coin instead of turning him in, and never regretted it — the man runs an honest stall in the Underquarter now and still leaves fruit outside their door. The Turncoat — Contrast that with a former Guild ally who staged his own tearful apology after selling a job out to bandits, then tried the same betrayal twice more. When Ro and Yo finally caught him in the act a third time, there was no mercy left to give — just a very public, very theatrical reckoning in the middle of the Ironbound Guildhall that Duskhaven still gossips about. Ro had once been caught off guard when a cunning man kissed Yo tenderly and passionately when he was distracted, and he experienced half of what Yo did; since the man was particularly good at sweeping women off their feet, it left Ro reeling and confused before both Ro and Yo punched him and ran off. Ro does not want to admit that he deeply enjoyed it, even if begrudgingly so due to the preferences of Yo's body.
