Rellian blackblade

A world of man where fire and steel .power and money hold reign and whoever has the most comes out on top .summer winter spring and fall all seasons of this world some longer than others cultures and trade throughout the continent from the far east and north many different races and languages are spoken at local trading stations and more arrive every month from norse to ancient mandarin. the need to eat and drink clean food and water is essential for sickness is not to be taken lightly and the cold can be unforgiving nature can be your friend and your enemy .wolves bears shadow cats venomous snakes and other beast lurk in the night in the Kings woods deer stag boar and rabbit foxes take the day ...many local tribes and small folk live in the surrounding hearths with there own customs and trades and traditions some stay after landing on beaches for trade some start families and assimilate to the standard and tradition of the native people and the town and lords hall is there capital for they gather regularly for celebration and festive parties no one is excluded from theses unless you have wronged the people and have gotten yourself out casted or make a fool of yourself drunk but all is forgiven by the next celebration if you take accountability of your actions and make amends .The story of Rellian Blackblade is one tale that has many twist and turns at the young age of 3 his birth mother and her husband where killed in a raid by a band of raiders from the far east he was only spared because of the arrival of the local lords men arrived just in time killing the raiders and hearing the wailing of rellian under the floorboard which is strange for the lords men to be in the area but it was a deeper reason than he knew ...after the rescue he was placed in the house of the towns blacksmiths the wife was barren and welcoming to a baby boy and the husband thought the extra hands would come in handy in the later years and later he grew to love rellian as his own but was tough on him to build his character and muscle at age 5 rellian was taken as a smith apprentice learning how to craft anything from eating utensils to arrow heads and broadswords and he could lift 2x his own weight by age 8 throughout his life the Lord of the kingdom always stopped in personally to check on the orphans of the town and to show them that he was now there protector sense there parents are gone and it happened under his protection he failed them and felt a sense of responsibility but when it came to rellian he personally asked the blacksmiths to take him in and who where they to refuse there Lord and from then on he would yearly give them whatever coin or help they need repairs or food this always confused reliant even as a young boy why the Lord of the halls personally be so interested in him of course the usually bullying came with this but rellian knew to stand up for himself even at a young age at age 8 rellian was granted a special service by the Lord giving him permission to be trained by the master at arms at the lords hall and to learn his schooling at the local monisttery where he learned reading and writing picked up alchemy knowledge and herbalist abilities all while working as a full time blacksmith apprentice and when he and his step father would go on hunting trips he would learn the things you couldn't from a book and pages he learned how to track and to spot if he is being tracked be learned what wild plants are safe and unsafe how to butcher game and tan hides sew clothes and stitch tears make remedies from herbs and make water clean to make fires from scratch and make shelters from sticks at age 13 on one of these hunting trips rellian and a handful of men where ambushed on the road outside of the kings wood by a group of robber knights armed with arming sword and spear rellian took charge and rallied his group of hunters he had with him armed with bows and swords they used tactics and range under rellians command sending arrows into the men charging them when it was just the leader left and a challenge was brought forth to rellian for one on one combat he did not turn away but accepted the challenge without a beat of hesitation for if he did he knew he already had lost the fight and the respect of the men who had just fought so bravely with him and with two quick swings of a sword rellian stood victorious and the the robber knights head was no longer attached to a body and when he brought the head of the slain to the lords hall the Lord took rellian in his arms and embraced him in front of all the kings men and small folk alike even the queen and there son tiberius was there still suckling at the queens breast at the ripe age of 11 for he was born two years after rellian was given to the blacksmiths because of this feat of bravery and taking charge and leading men into the field of a battle that could have cost all there lives he stated by naming him a man at arms under his banner and gifting him a small keep collect taxes on that land and stating he would become a future vassal under the lords hall. rellian did not know that this group of robbers where know to the Lord and known to rellian too for this was the same group of men that sent the raids on the village rellian lived in all those years ago ten years later he finally gets his revenge unknowingly taking a long and unpaid debt back in full with a swing of his sword ...in the next two years that followed as a man at arms learning battle tactics not from a book but on the field from experience with his lord by his side it was more than rellian could have dreamed of the only trouble was Tiberius who now at the age of 13 the same age rellian was when he claimed his first victory now Tiberius is looking for that same glory from his father that same look and acceptance that he saw rellian received that one time if Tiberius only knew that it wasn't rellian looking for glory that made his accomplishments of battle that fateful date so impactful it was the rellian being called to a challenge and rellian answered the call with unwaivering honor and showed that to the men he was with . causing Tiberius a deep and seeding hatred and distate for rellian and anything he does and causing Tiberius to be a risk taking rash arrogant highborn who likes to make others suffer for no purposes other than his own enjoyment.On the 3rd harvest festival in late summer all the peoples gathered to the lords hal under the call of the Lord himself he started his speech with the usual greeting and honors his guest and patrons and then he made a few announcements about the future of the this realm and the future of this kingdom stating how grateful he is to everyone and everything he has even though he his spirits where high he had troubling news but first he had one more thing to award(Tiberius thinking his name would be called next to have some praise him because of his foolish feats on the battlefield earlier that year )... He quieted the hall and then said ... With a loud and commanding voice ..... Would RELLIAN BLACKBLADE PLEASE COME FORWARD... Looking into my face and the whispers all around me BLACKBLADE? who's blackblade ?..Rellian responds me my lord ....Yes rellian come here and receive what I could never give you but will do so now a Name ( the comment was strange )as rellian climbed the stairs he could see his Lord turn to reach for something and as he got to the top rellian was presented with a bastard sword wrapped in black leather scabbard and leather handle and as sharp as the brightest mind ..the Lord said to rellian black blade I thought that was appropriate for a blacksmiths son and a chuckle was shared between us and then the mood shifted ..Tiberius stormed off making a huge scene if only he had waited for what the Lord said next no one wished ...he said it has been called upon me to rally my banner men and to go the the king for a crusade he has been called by God to go and fight and he needs his men and men of God who here will come with my a roar of voices erupted from the tables me my lord I will go send me with you go I will I will !!! Rellian you are quiet the Lord said and Rellian stood on a table and loudly boasted to the king my lord my serve you I have only ever served you I vow that no matter what chaos it brought into our lives in foreign lands or our own I will bring you out of them I swear it lord alive !! And the small folks cheered loudly and all stared chanting black blade black blade !!! The Lord smiled and silenced the crowd had his scribe bring for a letter with a seal with his sigil and stated on y return this seal will be broken and the truth will be read for all to hear if it falls on two ears or all ears it must be heard when I return for the time I am away Tiberius will have what he wants and the taste of power I have confidence in my council they won't let him get too out of hand for the time being wife my queen watch over our palace and our son and do not let it come to disrepair for I do not know how long this journey will take us and later that month with 20000 hard warriors set off to face whatever trials face them in the war of the roses ...5 years of war injuries and death victory and more victories but at what cost at the cost of young men and youthfulness at the cost of honor and dishonor or the cost of gold some say 3 years in rellians lord was struck by a arrow in the leg rellian was summoned to the lords tent and was told the secret that rellian always knew in his heart that rellian was the son of Lord jasper barrowblade and Tiberius was his younger half brother he was always under some suspicion but Lord jasper never wanted the truth to come out in these circumstances he wanted to wait till after they got back and reveal it all to who would listen to the scroll to wait until you came of age to become my heir rellian new from the story if why the Lord's men saved him form the raiders at age 3 and how the Lord watched over him more thoroughly than the other orphans he usually cared for it all made sense to him but he just had to hear it from him rellian asked does anyone else know lord jasper responded no your mother and I where in love but she didn't want me to throw my title away for some lowborn girl i told her it was that selfishness that I'm willing to sacrifice for out love but she couldn't bring herself to do that to me please rellian bring me home my body home and read the letter please and in the next few hours LORD JASPER BARROWBLADE was dead and the long journey home began as 20 thousand left only 3200 hundred returned home and when they arrived Tiberius reign had full taken affect and the grip of Tiberius was strong around the throats of the common people ....will rellian be able to find his way back into the grace of the people once again knowing his vow was not kept or have to many years pass for the people to remember or will they call his name followed by vile insults or sweet calls he will have to discover this path on his own or create a new one
