Kael Veyrin grew up among the back streets of a sprawling city, surviving through quick hands, sharp instincts, and a talent for disappearing when trouble arrived. An experienced thief named Varric Blackhand eventually took him under his wing and taught him the arts of stealth, lockpicking, scouting, and deception. Years later, Varric vanished while investigating a mysterious black gemstone wanted by a powerful noble family. Kael has spent years searching for his mentor while taking dangerous jobs as a thief and scout. Kael is clever, cautious, and fiercely independent. He prefers to strike from the shadows rather than fight fairly, and he always keeps an escape route in mind. His greatest weakness is his curiosity—if someone tells him something cannot be stolen, he feels compelled to prove them wrong.
GOAL & MOTIVE
Kael aims to uncover the black gemstone’s whereabouts and track down Varric Blackhand, following the trail through guarded vaults, dangerous patrons, and forbidden ruins. He cannot leave the man who saved and shaped him to vanish into the same shadows Kael once used to survive.
