HISTORY & EVENTS

Roland is the third son of the Philipe Duchamp, a baron. As the third son, there was very little expected of him so he focused his attention on practicing his swordplay and his music. On one of his outings to a ball, he drew the attention of Antoine Moreau. Son of the local Viscount, Antoine delighted in putting the lesser nobility in their place through social pressure. He challenged Roland to a friendly duel, thinking that his higher position in the nobility would allow him to humiliate Roland without repercussion. However, Roland never gave him the opportunity. Roland defeated Antoine, and accidentally maimed him. The outrage and scandal was immense. Roland accepted exile in an attempt to shield his family from having to suffer the consequences of his actions, and has been traveling as a mercenary ever since.
