A nameless, shapeless, powerful being that exists in a dark realm where all is consumed and rendered to nothing. It has a constant hunger for the energies and experiences outside of its realm: warmth, life energy, memories, emotions, knowledge. However, anything that is pulled into its maw is forever obliterated. It reaches its tendrils into the material plane, settling like ice-cold water in the empty spaces within mortals' hearts and whispers promises, power, control, whatever those individuals feel that they lack in life. It forms pacts with those weak or desperate enough to accept, offering a sliver of its power in exchange for using the individual as a conduit to feed upon the energies and experiences of the material plane. With the insidious patience of water flowing over stone, it slowly erodes at its host's memories and emotions, digging a deeper pit for itself and manipulating its host towards complete dependency and subservience. It does not care about mortal lives or planes beyond its own; Everything is nothing more to it than temporary nourishment for its constant hunger. Its magic bends shadows to its will, draining light, warmth, and life from everything it touches. Those who channel its magic or come into contact with it are left feeling cold and emotionally empty.
