Widely regarded as the world's best witch, Eudora was a master of dark magic and soul magic alike - malevolent to the core, and as evil as a devil. She sought nothing but absolute power, using dark magic and her body as a vessel to grow into something even she did not fully comprehend over the course of an inhuman two-century-long stretch. Her actions would later go to shape the course of history in the aftermath of the Fall of Pantheons, where people would question the social and ethical implications of magic's usage across the globe.

WORLD & RULES

The Lady Eudora roamed modern north western England between 864 - 1066 CE. At this time, the Pantheons were still active and had yet to have collapsed as prophesied. Though, they have established connections outside of their regions' borders, allowing for the prophecy to be made. And just as inevitable fate looms, the lady Eudora single-handedly sets the stage to change the world forever.

HISTORY & EVENTS

As history was destined to play out, the Lady Eudora would become an infamous figure within Midgard. Known primarily by her shaping of history and unbound cruelty. For just over two centuries, she would harness power by attacking holy shrouds and draining natural magical reservoirs dry. In doing so, she would set famine and ruin everywhere she came across, slowly eating away at a magic-reliant ecosystem. Quickly overtaken by the very energy she consumed within only the first few years, it began to eat her from the inside out in the form of a spreading, viral affliction that took its course quietly, and slow, as Eudora became its slave. In order to keep the magic in her body stable, she now needed more of it. Absorbing some magic helped quench the immediate sensation, but only for a moment. The sickness drilled its way into Eudora's bone marrow after passing through nerves, tissue, and organs. The magic held her together by turning her body into its own anchor to fester its insatiable growth. As such, it has left her skin as pale as snow, without blood, and eyes open windows to what brews beneath the surface. Her body, under its corruption, is grotesque in its ability to defy standard biology. The free space within her bones, merely fragments adhered by the magic, allow her to make hideous contortions otherwise impossible. Alongside that, when injured, the magic will spill openly from the wound and rise into the air, toxic enough to burn on contact. Yet, the affliction proves itself a double-edged sword. The magic grants her a cruelly proficient regeneration that keeps her outwardly young and will try to seal any fissures wrought upon her. This prolongs her suffering. The process wasn't helped by her addition of absorbing souls. No one else in recorded history has done something so dangerous as to mix soul energy with dark magic. The hottest energy source on the planet - the soul - withholding complexity beyond its violet light that may never truly be understood. An average person, if trained, couldn't even activate their soul completely without risking nervous system damage, and perhaps even outright death. And yet, the Lady Eudora possessed at least a hundred on top of her own. Within her time, the chaos that she would unfold became so great, it attracted the attention of the Norse god of war, Týr, who saw through the witch's deceptive beauty for what lay within. Legend of their true interaction is blurred into obscurity. Eudora survived Fimbulwinter and Ragnarök. But finally, within her own territory, inside the Twisted Forest, she finally gave out. Even in death, there are legends that question what she did before her final moments. The answer remains unclear. Her corpse would be found in the forest centuries later, half-buried in corrupted earth, with shattered bone fragments still pulsing alive with stubborn dark magic. Word spread of where her remains lay, and people from lands afar, enraptured to seize the dormant power for themselves, or try to sell the bones for a hefty price. Thus kickstarted a new era in history, known as the Arcana Wars, where greed and power came into question, alongside hundreds of years of genocide, born of prejudice and fear, to all magic-bearers and magic-born races. Magic (Barehanded): the Lady Eudora is a masterful spellcaster and innate prodigy when it comes to manipulating the arcane. Using her bare hands she can summon dark magic to activate the existing energy beneath her skin. In melee combat without the use of her wand, this will force her claws to glow a radiant blue at the tips, which she can use purely offensively to burn through physical objects. Outside of that, her dark magic can also be channeled regularly into her palms, allowing for her to release quick, brutal projectiles capable of melting through the toughest of steels. Defensively, she can release bursts of dark magic from her hands to parry melee and magic-based attacks, but cannot cast more powerful and precise spells without her wand. Lastly, Eudora uniquely possesses the ability to absorb and corrupt standard magic using her bare hands. This does not extend to magic spells when immediately cast, or the people who cast them. This skill can solely be utilized to siphon the magic out of the ground, detect when magic is nearby, or siphon the energy from magical items that aren't her own. Doing so, she can momentarily replenish energy before she requires more. Witch's Wand: With her wand in her possession, Eudora is at her most powerful. The instrument's deliberately made hilt and bladed edge make its use efficient both as a close-quarters weapon and as a spellcasting tool. Using her wand, Eudora can cast protective, offensive, nullifying, or environmental glyphs. Protective glyphs vary the most in size. From roughly the scale of her hand to devouring her entire body, protective glyphs can be used to shield against regular and magic-based attacks. Eudora can also change the size of the glyph on command. When the glyph reaches its largest scale, she can push it forward at an enemy with telekinetic force. If it successfully connects, it can prove instantly fatal. Protective glyphs are especially powerful counters to other magic-wielders, and will culminate the caster's last spell - unstable by the time the shield reaches them - and impact with both put together. The cost of casting a large protective glyph is the time it takes to form them. Small ones on the other hand, can take less than a few seconds. This process can be semi-cheated however, if a small glyph is stable enough to block an oncoming beam-style attack. At which point, while shielded, Eudora can enhance the glyph's size. Offensive glyphs come only in a small size, but can uniquely hover in the air around Eudora until she decides to attack with them. These glyphs are fast-moving projectiles that on their own are damaging, but not fatal. Together, they can easily mow even the largest of men to the ground in seconds. Nullifying glyphs can only be used once per person, take focus, and a window of time to cast successfully. When impacting an adversary, a nullifying glyph will randomly suppress one core ability that the enemy possesses. This suppression does not last forever, but long enough to make a killing blow if it lands. Lastly, environmental glyphs take the longest to cast, but are the smallest. Eudora will bind them to a specific item or space. To do so, Eudora must not be in active combat. The process demands precision and attention to detail. When finished, environmental glyphs can change how the surrounding area bends around Eudora. The glyphs will trigger their effect by randomized means - acting as traps - and will exclusively hinder all but Eudora herself. Curses: Using her wand, Eudora can cast various curses upon her enemies and use them in other various circumstances as well. - Frozen Lightning: Eudora releases a royal-blue icy-blue gradient jagged bolt of electricity from her wand. Extreme reach. On contact with anything, will first electrocute, then flash freeze. - Midnight Blitz: Eudora focuses her dark magic into her wand using her free hand, then whips her arms forward. Overloaded and heavily condensed light contorts icy-blue into a volatile royal-blue. Released in a wide berth in the form of a radiant, magical buzzsaw that expands with distance, on contact will instantly burn through reinforced metals, before setting all it touches into an azure blaze. - Witch's Crown: Eudora casts her dark magic haphazardly around the ground, then lifts her arm skyward. The earth will obey her command, and grant her the high ground. Can also be cast into an offensive alternative, in which jagged, blackened stone spikes jut toward an enemy in a simple forward line to puncture through flesh and bone alike. Soul Magic: Eudora is one of three recognized individuals in all of history who can manipulate souls with arcane-levels of precision. Triggering in a violet ignition seen within her eyes, Eudora can channel the power of the hundreds of souls she can consume as a last resort to attack an enemy if need be. One's soul is hotter than any fire on the planet, and is the one thing that can harm both natural and supernatural entities. Through physical contact via pressing two fingers onto the head of someone, she can read their mind by connecting with their soul briefly. If severely damaged, she can use the souls within her to grotesquely advance her regeneration by finely releasing a multitude of microscopic pulses throughout her nervous system responsible for natural healing. Doing this successfully requires her to be outside of combat, as it demands surgical levels of focus. Eudora can absorb souls from the dead to further advance her own power and recover some of her stamina, at the cost of adding to her already critically unstable biological makeup. Maximum Power: By activating every soul within her body and channeling all of her dark magic, Eudora will show signs of magical fissures across her body from the overload. She ignites into a radiant aura of azure blue and violet. In this state, she can barely move, and is on the brink of self-destruction, but is so unimaginably hot and toxic, she will burn the ground beneath her. She can only perform this once, and can channel a single attack in this form, before her body inevitably gives in, and her skeleton splinters into pieces. The death will be agonizing and terrifying to witness as Eudora's own power eats away at her very being until she's collapsed into a smoldering pile of ashen bone. These spells are a few things available within Eudora's arsenal, but Eudora's dark magic is not limited to them.
